Overall college is good. Average package is around 7 LPA-8 LPA.

Placements: In the chemical engineering branch, about 93% of students got placed. The lowest package is about 5.5 LPA and the highest is about 15 LPA. Top recruiting companies in chemical engineering are Reliance Industries, Asian Paints, Lumus, Varroc, Halide Petrochemical, Aarti Industries, HUL, Himadri, etc.

Infrastructure: College infrastructure is okay and not very good. As the college is more than 100 years old, its infrastructure is not like that of new colleges, but it is improving, as some new departments/buildings have been added, like a new department of chemical engineering and electronics engineering, which are good.

Faculty: Faculty members are good, and all of them have a lot of experience. The curriculum is good, but it needs some improvement, some outdated things are still taught. Almost every 1.5 months, you have to give exams, checking is very strict, and the overall exam level is medium to difficult.

Other: Overall college is good. It has good ROI.

I am dissatisfied due to bad faculty, bad placement states, and old curriculum.

Placements: Placement states have become really poor now. Many CSE students stay unplaced even after the whole placement cycle. In the second-semester cycle of the 2024-25 session, an attendance policy was suddenly implemented due to which more than half of students are unable to take mid-semester exams, posing a lot of academic loss to students. Some of the final year students are detained from sitting in placements because of having less attendance.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure in the college is not very good. Buildings are old, furnished, and finished. Classrooms for the first year students only are air-conditioned and there too the ACs don't work properly. Some water coolers in the college don't even work. Labs are good but apparatus in labs are old. Some apparatus is broken, some don't work. Wi-Fi on the campus doesn't work most of the time. The library is good. It provides a calm and good environment to study. Right now, the condition of food in the mess is pathetic. The food and water quality is really bad.

Faculty: The college curriculum still follows an old curriculum. They teach students things that have lost significance long ago in their careers, but still, the college forces the students to learn them making it productive for students. In the first year, every branch is taught the subjects of every other branch, like CSE students are taught mechanical, engineering, and civil engineering, which are of no use to them. Some professors are supportive of students but some are not. Most professors are not able to teach efficiently, and they may have good experience and industrial experience, but teaching is out of their league.

Other: Actually, this was my last choice as I was not getting any good branches in good NITs. So, as a last choice, I had to opt for CSE in HBTU, Kanpur. Quality checks of teaching by professors, uniformity in exam evaluation systems, etc., should make it better for students.

College without any hidden secret.

Placements: Earlier, the placement record was quite good but after corona, it declined. The overall placement percentage is 80-90%. The average package in mechanical engineering and chemical engineering is around 8 LPA - 9 LPA and 7 LPA - 8 LPA respectively. Some good companies which are visiting my college are Samsung, R&D, TCS, etc.

Infrastructure: As it is a more than 100 years old college, the building is old and some need to be renovated like Shridhar Acharya Hostel. One very nice thing is there is the greenery which I like the most. There is a library whose timing is not good. It is from 10 AM to 7 PM. There is Wi-Fi in the hostel.

Faculty: Here, all teachers are not so qualified and knowledgeable but some are helpful like Rekha mam. She is a maths faculty. The teaching quality of some teachers is very bad. The course curriculum is not so relevant. It doesn't make students industry-ready. The course curriculum needs to be improved.

Other: The behaviour of seniors is not so good.

Review of Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur.

Placements: HBTU is a good college in terms of placements; it provides good packages to its students. The average package is nearly 6 LPA at HBTU, with the highest being 45 LPA, which I find quite impressive. There is a very good placement cell that handles student placements.

Infrastructure: The faculty at HBTU is very good, and a major factor in coming to this college is the faculty. They understand the students and help them with any troubles. They guide you in every way to help you achieve what you want in life. The best part is that our faculty members are from outside India.

Faculty: Exams at HBTU are held in a very decent way. There are two mid-semester exams and one end-semester exam. Mid-semester exam contains 15 marks each, and the semester exam contains 50 marks. In the last, there is a total of these marks, and you got your CGPA based on this.

Other: If you want to secure your future, come to HBTU.

The college is awesome, and students can take admission here.

Placements: Approximately 85% of students get placed. All students got the opportunity to work with various companies. The highest package is 13 LPA, and the average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like BEL, Asian Paints, and Paytm hire students from the college. Approximately, all students get internships. Roles like live project internship, marketing intern, and marketing manager are offered.

Infrastructure: All facilities are offered here. It has various labs, a library, incubation centres, and clean and good classrooms with air-conditioners. All medical facilities are available. The hospital is available here. Various games and competitions are held, and awards are given. Internal competitions are also held.

Faculty: Teachers are qualified and they have deep knowledge of the subject. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate. 85% of students easily pass exams. If we study well in class, we will pass it easily. It makes students ready with fully equipped knowledge.

I am not satisfied with college.

Placements: Placements are in very critical condition. The packages vary from 2 LPA to 15 LPA. Only 60% of students are able to receive jobs. The major company includes TCS. It needs improvement drastically. Roles that are offered include data scientist, etc.

Infrastructure: Being a state-funded college its infrastructure is not up to mark. It has a poor Wi-Fi facility including library which is not available 24 hours. There is an unavailability of hostel for 2nd,3rd, and 4th year students so they have to go to the West campus. HBTU has good food quality in canteen.

Faculty: Some teachers are seniors. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable but teachers who joined within 5- 7 years are just a showcase. They pretend to be knowledgeable. Course curriculum followed is still the same and has not been updated with fast-growing technology.

Other: I chose this course because it was in high demand concerning placement but as soon as I entered the college. I found it to be complete myth. This year fest is not held but some extracurricular activities are conducted.
