College without any hidden secret.
Placements: Earlier, the placement record was quite good but after corona, it declined. The overall placement percentage is 80-90%. The average package in mechanical engineering and chemical engineering is around 8 LPA - 9 LPA and 7 LPA - 8 LPA respectively. Some good companies which are visiting my college are Samsung, R&D, TCS, etc.
Infrastructure: As it is a more than 100 years old college, the building is old and some need to be renovated like Shridhar Acharya Hostel. One very nice thing is there is the greenery which I like the most. There is a library whose timing is not good. It is from 10 AM to 7 PM. There is Wi-Fi in the hostel.
Faculty: Here, all teachers are not so qualified and knowledgeable but some are helpful like Rekha mam. She is a maths faculty. The teaching quality of some teachers is very bad. The course curriculum is not so relevant. It doesn't make students industry-ready. The course curriculum needs to be improved.
Other: The behaviour of seniors is not so good.

Great potential but lacking infrastructure.
Placements: More than 90% of students get placed in chemical engineering branch in one or other company during the overall placement process. The placement package ranges from about 5 LPA and tops around 12 LPA. Top companies recruiting are Reliance Industries, ExxonMobil, Llamas Teach, Jubilant Ingrevia, Asian Paints, TCS, and Samsung. Every student gets internships, and some get paid in companies like ExxonMobil, Jubilant, and Reliance, while others get unpaid industrial training. But the learning experience is for everyone. Graduate engineering trainee is the most common role offered.
Infrastructure: The department building of chemical engineering is the best one in the university. But the condition of equipment and furniture in classrooms is debatable. While the seminar hall and conference rooms are great. There is seamless fast Wi-Fi access for students across the campus. Classrooms have digital boards and projectors. Library has enough books for course requirements. Few labs are fully functional. Canteen and cafeteria are decent and provide good options at fine prices. Students get a medi-claim for health cover of 1.5 lakh which gets renewed every year. Sports facilities are average.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and open to any questions. They help us as much as they can. They are knowledgeable and most are IIT graduates or postgraduates. Some are even qualified from foreign universities. Course curriculum is standard but industrial training is required to be industry-ready which is lacking here. Semester exams are on easier side and can be passed easily with regular study. We need a minimum of 4 CGPA to pass.
Other: The college is over 100 years old. Chemical department alone is more than 50 years old which is older than most colleges. It also has a vast network of alumni at prestigious institutions and high positions in huge industries. So, it gives students benefits in connection with industry. I wish the course included regular industry visits for more practical knowledge. The events for chemical departments have just started and are going great. Few events happen every year in university, and the fest situation is a little dicey right now. Connectivity across campus and the city is great with e-rickshaws and free buses.

Average college, limited options. Not as good as top NITs and IIITs, but still okay.
Placements: Half of the students in the Computer Science and Information Technology departments secured attractive packages averaging 15+ LPA. The remaining students also received placements, albeit not as lucrative. The top-tier packages were predominantly offered off campus to high-performing students. The placements in the Chemical Engineering department were satisfactory, while the departments of Paint and Electronics had moderate success. Other departments did not fare as well.
Infrastructure: The buildings are constructed in a subpar manner, with an age that rivals that of the college itself, which is over a century old. It is possible that some of these buildings are truly that ancient. The condition of the hostels is also unsatisfactory, as they are old and in a state of disrepair. However, the first year boys hostel is passable, while the others are not up to par. Unfortunately, I cannot provide any insight on the girls hostel due to my limited knowledge. It is worth noting that the girls hostel is situated within a distinct boundary.
Faculty: The curriculum is focused on academics and is outdated. It has only recently incorporated subjects like ML and AI, but the quality of these additions remains uncertain due to their recent introduction. Therefore, the curriculum may not be at the forefront of the latest fields, but rather emphasizes traditional studies.
Other: When entering an IT position, it is important to understand that you will need to independently acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for the role.

College placements partially decreases due to discipline of students.
Placements: Above 90% of students got placed in this previous year. The highest salary package offered was 22 LPA by Valency International, and the lowest salary offered was 4 LPA. The average salary package offered was 7 LPA in Tata Motors. About 44% of students secured internships at Reliance Industries Limited, HCL, and Tata Consultancy Services.
Infrastructure: Facilities like Wi-Fi, computer labs, classrooms, library, sports ground, Canteen, innovation hub, and gym are available. The quality of food in mess is good. Mess menu can be changed according to students. Hostel infrastructure are not good but all hostel have playground.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified from NITs and IITs. Course curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are partially difficult. Overall, pass percentage is 40% and 30%in all subjects. Minimum 15 marks are needed in all subjects in end semester exams. We can prepare for exams 1 week before.
Other: I chose this course because this course is reliable according to my rank and this course will be in high demand in the coming years. Some changes in semester exams are needed. College fest was conducted last January and has a high alumni connectivity along with scholarship facilities.

About the mother institute of Uttar Pradesh (Harcourt Butler technical university).
Placements: The placement rate of the electronics branch of our college is quite low and also at a very low rate. Since I came to college this year and placements of the final year have started, only around 10 people are placed at a low package, and only a few get a good package.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is old but good. We have good food quality in some hostels compared to others, like in Shridharacharya hostel. There is a dispensary in our college and many sports grounds and games; it is good. We have a well-equipped library with free Wi-Fi facilities, and also hostels have free Wi-Fi facilities with a daily data limit.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and cooperate, except for some professors, but teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is hectic in the first semester, but after that, it is good and effective. The pass percentage is very good in our college.
Other: I chose this course because it is very helpful and unique for further studies, and also it is a core branch, so it is a very good branch. The college is very good, and it offers various opportunities. Also, there are many fests and festivals that are celebrated in our college.

2024 scenario in HBTU Kanpur.
Placements: This year's 2024 batch is just like a nightmare for on-campus placement, as 20 students in my branch couldn't get the placement. If we see the highest placement, then there is one senior who got a placement of 33 LPA off-campus in Zeta, and he also got 22 LPA on-campus in Zscaler, too. The rest of the data will be there after the list comes. This year, TCS is the god for students; it was the only hope due to the recession in the market. Very few companies are visiting on campus.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are average; you can expect more in the future. Of. Facility, as there are labs that damaged computers around the year when HBTTU was built (1921). The library is pretty good, but the classrooms are just AVG. Food in a mess is poison. Here, I can use any other word. The canteen is below AVG. Cricket has a very good culture in our college. If. You are looking for a future in cricket, and you can sure shoot.
Faculty: I have an advice: they should update the syllabus as of now. Companies are introducing new teaching so students should learn. About that in. not just outside the college, but they upgrade the curriculum. Teachers are pretty supportive here; they are very good in their domain.
Other: HBTU is very famous as it is the oldest technical. University of. Up, that's why I chose it, but it is not worth the money by any chance. Fests are good; they just change the environment of the college, but this year they postponed the fest, and it is possible that this year there won't be any.
