Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was established in 1973 and is located in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The Tehri campus of HNBGU is also famous as Swami Ram Teerth (SRT) Campus. HNBGU campus is spread over a total area of 25 acre of land surrounded by the Himalayan Ranges. It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses specialised in Arts, Commerce, Languages, Science, Law, and Education.
HNBGU offers merit-based admission in the undergraduate programmes and entrance-based admissions to the postgraduate programmes. The University has more than 54 permanent teachers, 41 part-time teachers, and 122 non-teaching and technical staff members. There are over nine departments in the HNBGU Tehri campus which offers over 45 courses. All the courses offered by the University are approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC). The campus of hnbgu offers various infrastructural facilities such as well equipped laboratories, classrooms, canteen, administrative block, library, boys hostel, and computer centre.

Merit Based:
To B.Ed. students: Six students securing the top six positions in the entrance examination conducted by the University for admission to B.Ed. are granted a monthly Scholarship of INR 200/- each.
To BPL Students: Scholarship of INR 1500/- per month is granted to a maximum of ten talented students of the University belonging to BPL category.
Some of the scholarships are granted to the bonafide students belonging to SC/ST/OBC category, provided that the annual income of the applicant's family does not exceed to Rs. 2,50,000 in case of SC/ST students and Rs.1,00,000 in case of OBC category. Students falling in this category must have a bank account in any nationalized bank.
Financial assistance to BPL students out of the Poor Boys Fund of the University proportionate to the number of applicants and the total funds available during an Academic Session.
