Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University was founded in 1973 and upgraded to a Central University. It is recognised by the UGC and accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ Grade. Across 16 streams, 11 schools, 47 departments and two centres, it offers more than 700 UG courses including PG and doctoral courses. It has three campuses, namely Birla campus, Srinagar (extension at Chauras campus), B.Gopal Reddy campus, Pauri and Swami Ram Teerth (SRT) campus, Tehri.

Yes, now Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University will not be conducting an entrance exam separately. HNBGU admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated courses is now based on candidates' performance in the CUET entrance exam, conducted by NTA. Candidates with a valid CUET score are then required to go through an online counselling round conducted by HNBGU.

In 2024, for the General AI category candidates, the cutoff rank stood between 7465 and 710628. Similarly, for the General Home State category, the rank stood between 9500 and 928605. In both categories, the course having the lowest rank was MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology and the course having the highest rank was BDS - Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
NEET exam is conducted for the admission to medical courses such as MBBS and BDS at HNBGU Uttarakhand. NTA declares the result of the candidates attempting to secure a seat at various colleges in India.
