For admission to the BSc course at IIT Bombay, candidates are first required to complete the basic eligibility criteria, which state that applicants must complete their Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For reserved categories (SC, ST, and PwD), the minimum aggregate is 65%. Further, all the IIT aspirants have to appear for JEE Main and afterwards, JEE Advanced. Only the top 2,25,000 scores in JEE Main will become eligible to sit for JEE Advanced. A very small number of students may also be admitted to the BS in Mathematics programme through an alternative route for those who have qualified for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO).

For the General AI quota, the IIT Madras CSE cutoff 2025 stood at 171 in the first round. Till the last round, the cutoff remained the same, indicating all seats got filled after the first round of the JEE Advanced cutoff. For IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, the CSE cutoff ranks were closed at 126 and 66, respectively, for the same category. So, considering the cutoff ranks, the IIT Madras cutoff for CSE was comparatively less competitive for admission among the Engineering aspirants as compared to that of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay.
