For the admission to majority of courses at Jiwaji Gwalior, candidates are required to secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in the previous qualification exams. For candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC category, a relaxation of 5% will be provided. The mode of admissions at the Jiwaji University varies from one course to another. Jiwaji University admission is both merit and entrance-based. Candidates seeking direct admission to the university could apply for courses such as MA and MSc, in which the admission is given on the basis of the merit of the last qualifying exam. However, candidates wiling to take admission to other courses such as BTech and BA (Hons) must appear for the JEE Main and CUET UG entrance exams, respectively.

Jiwaji University offers admission to various UG and PG level programmes on the basis of merit and valid scores of accepted entrance exams. The University considers a minimum aggregate of 45% to 60% in Class 12 and/or 50% to 55% in graduation, depending on the level of the course candidate must have opted for. In addition to this, for majority of courses, candidates must secure valid scores in CUET UG/PG, CMAT, NEET PG, GATE or other valid entrance exams.

Gwalior University, through various schools of study, colleges, and 29 departments, offers UG, PG, Diploma, and various other courses to students. The 419 affiliated colleges provide 100 courses across the Commerce, Science, Law, and various other streams.
