Alternatively, students can also apply for lateral entry to the second year of the B.E programme if they have passed a Diploma examination from an AICTE approved institution with at least 50% marks in the appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology. 95% of the seats in aided courses and 50% of the seats in unaided courses are filled by the Government of Karnataka through the Karnataka Examination Authority.
