Mahatma Gandhi University was established in 1983. The university is approved by UGC and has been given an A grade by NAAC. The University of Kerala was established in 1937. The university is re-accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade. Kerala University has a score of 55.50 and ranks 24 among the top Universities in India by NIRF 2023, whereas MG University has been ranked 31 among the top Universities in India with a score of 53.44. 

MG University placement report 2025 is not released. However, according to MGU Kerala NIRF report 2025, the median package offered during MG University UG 5-year and PG 2-year placements 2024 stood at INR 4 LPA and INR 5.5 LPA, respectively. Apart from this, 26 students out of 38 students were placed during MG University UG 5-year placements 2024. 

Ragging in any form is a cognizable offence and is banned in MG University, Roorkee. The college premises has strict laws against the student found guilty of any act such as abusing, assaulting, threatening, teasing and embarrassment to new students, among others.

The basic eligibility criteria that students must fulfil to avail Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students are given below:

• The applicant must be above the 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class 12 or equivalent.
• The applicant must be pursuing regular degree courses and not correspondence or distance mode or pursuing Diploma courses.
• The applicant must be pursuing courses at colleges/institutions recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education and the respective Regulatory Bodies concerned.
• The applicant must not be availing the benefit of any other scholarship schemes including State-run scholarship schemes/ fee waivers & reimbursement schemes.
• The gross parental/family income of the applicant should not exceed ?4,50,000 per annum.
• For renewal of scholarship in each year of study, besides getting at least 50% marks in the Annual Examination, maintenance of adequate attendance of at least 75%, will also be the criteria.

Mahatma Gandhi University Kerala accepts national entrance exams such as MGU CAT, KEAM, CPGET, etc. Mahatma Gandhi University admission process is conducted via online registrations. Candidates must have to qualify the eligibility criteria set by the university for the desired course.
