B.A. in Malayalam - Batch of 2025
Offered by St. Berchmans College
4.8
Highly recommend SB College. Its legacy and vibrant life aid personal growth.
Placements: The placement rate is around 65 percent with some packages hitting 7 LPA. Big names like Deloitte and South Indian Bank visit often. For us in the 2025 Malayalam batch direct campus jobs were fewer but about 30 percent of my friends joined media houses like Manorama or local news units. The average package is 2.5 LPA. Most of us chose higher studies like B.Ed or M.A. to get into teaching. The college's brand really helped seniors get into content writing and journalism. The placement cell is helpful, and our internships gave us solid practical exposure for the future.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure here at SB is pretty good mixing those cool old buildings with what we actually need today. My favorite spot is definitely the Central Library the Malayalam collection there is huge. Classrooms are big and airy. They don't have AC but honestly the ventilation is so good you don't really miss it. You get Wi-Fi in the library and labs mostly. The hostel is kept well but has a strict schedule. The canteen's Kerala meals are cheap and a total lifesaver. The football ground is the best place to be in the evening for sports.
Faculty: The teachers in our Malayalam department are amazing and actually care about us. Most have PhDs and really love the subject which makes even the long classes interesting. SB is autonomous, the syllabus fees for fresher students cover modern media and trends not just old stuff which is great for journalism jobs. Exams are super organized and always on time. They're definitely tough so you have to study hard but most people pass (around 90 percent) because the professors keep us on track with regular internals. It's a solid place if you actually want to learn.
Other: I picked B.A. Malayalam at SB mainly because of its reputation and history here in Kerala. The campus vibe is the best part there's always something intellectual or fun happening. Events like the Berchmans Expo are huge highlights that everyone gets excited about. The students are friendly and since the college is so close to the railway station and bus stand traveling is super easy. My only real suggestion would be adding more workshops for digital writing. There are plenty of scholarships if you have good marks, too. It's just a great mix of tradition and modern campus life.

B.Com. in Finance and Taxation - Batch of 2027
Offered by St. Berchmans College
1.6
The college is overall okay, but not worth the fees.
Infrastructure: Girls’ hostel is outside the college, which is a drawback. For boys, it is inside the campus. Also, many students have suffered from food poisoning in the hostel. The hostel is very strict, and many students find it difficult to adjust. The food quality is below average.
Faculty: Faculty is average and sometimes not good. Teachers in the self-financing department are strict.
Other: It is a good college in Changanassery, but not the best in Kottayam. Programs and events conducted in the college are not very good. They do not meet expectations. Even though the college is considered good in Changanassery, it could still improve more. The college does not support many extracurricular activities like fashion shows. It is a suitable option for those who come only to study, but not for those who want both enjoyment and studies.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028
Offered by SJCET - St. Joseph'S College of Engineering and Technology
3.2
Placements are good, but campus placements are decreasing in the coming years.
Placements: Out of 100, only 25% to 50% of students get placed. The highest package is 10 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. When I come to the college, they say TCS and other big companies recruit, but now I see that startups are being recruited instead. Only about 25% of students get placed in a year, while others go for higher studies due to a lack of placements. The top roles in the course are very few, and activities in college life are also limited compared to other colleges.
Infrastructure: Facilities in the college are good. The infrastructure is also good. The hostel food is not good at all. The Wi-Fi provided in the college is not useful on mobile phones, but it works through Ethernet on laptops. The college has a past incident of food poisoning in the hostel mess in 2019, though I am not aware of it at the time of admission.
Faculty: Faculty members are okay, not very good. Only some of them are trained, while others are recent graduates. Teachers are helpful, but some are not very experienced, which creates problems in lectures. Semester exams are moderate, not very easy or very hard, but they have some complications.

Some faculty members are egoistic, while some are very well behaved.
Placements: In my college, around 7% of students from my course get placements. The lowest package is zero rupees if a scholarship is earned by the student. The highest is around 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies are some local companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities include good computer labs. As labs are one of the key places in engineering, and a well-organized library is also provided by the college. Strong Wi-Fi is provided. Since the college does not have enough range for some SIM cards, Wi-Fi is useful.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified, but I feel that while they are qualified on paper. Their teaching methods or techniques are not as effective. The course curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are quite difficult. The pass percentage is around 82%.
Other: I chose this course because I think there is scope for AI in the future. My campus has good fests, a good crowd, and good surroundings.

College is good enough but not worth the money and needs improvement in arts.
Placements: Placements in our course are average. They are not as high as claimed. However, the college mentions that almost 30–40 percent of students get good IT or core roles. Most offers come from mass recruiters or lesser-known companies. Many roles are support-based. Students usually arrange internships on their own.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good with maintained classrooms, labs, and a good library. The Wi-Fi works but is spotty at times. The hostel facilities are below average, and the food quality is poor, rated 3 out of 10. Basic amenities are there, but the overall hostel experience needs improvement.
Faculty: Faculty quality is average, about 5 out of 10. Some teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, while others are more concerned with getting through the syllabus. The curriculum and exam pattern are better, around 8 or maybe 9 out of 10, structured and manageable. Exams are moderate and still good.
Other: Campus life is good enough with a friendly crowd. Fests are limited, but activities are good. Though not value for money as it is expensive.

It is a value-for-money college with great placements and great college life.
Placements: Most students are placed in the previous batch with good placements. The highest package is 6 LPA from Deloitte. Top recruiting companies include auditing firms such as Deloitte and EY, and banking companies like Federal Bank. Most students get internships, as the certificate holds great value. Top roles include auditing, accounting, and banking.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is great. College has campus-wide Wi-Fi. Classrooms are well equipped with smart boards. The library is one of the biggest, with a large collection of books from various genres. College has multiple hostels ranging from budget to comfortable options. High-budget hostels include mess facilities, while low-budget ones provide canteen facilities.
Faculty: The curriculum is harder compared to other colleges, as the college is reputed for good placements. It is strict and feels relevant, mainly focusing on job placement entrance tests. The difficulty of semester exams varies, sometimes being hard and other times easier.
