With an ST category rank of 6025, your chances of getting into NIT Silchar, NIT Meghalaya, or NIT Hamirpur for CSE or IT are slim but not impossible. While these are generally more competitive for CSE/IT, there's still a possibility depending on the specific cutoff for that year and the number of available seats in your category.Elaboration:General Competitive Landscape:Top NITs like Silchar, Meghalaya, and Hamirpur typically have high cutoff ranks for CSE/IT, especially in the open categoryST Category Consideration:For the ST category, the cutoff ranks are usually lower than the general category, but still competitive, says Shiksha. Cutoff Variations:The exact cutoff rank fluctuates annually based on factors like the difficulty of the JEE Main exam, the number of applicants, and seat availability, Specific NITs:NIT Silchar: For the ST category, iQuanta says the opening rank for CSE is around 311, with closing ranks around 802. Your rank of 6025 might be outside this range, but it's important to note that this is just an estimate based on previous years' cutoffs. NIT Meghalaya: Expected opening rank for ST in CSE is 955, closing around 1010, says PW Live. Your rank is also likely outside this range. NIT Hamirpur: For the ST category, Shiksha says in CSE, the opening rank can be around 578. Your rank of 6025 might be beyond the closing rank, but it's still worth checking the specific cutoff for the year you are applying. Factors Affecting Admission:Seat Availability: The number of seats available for your category in the desired branch will impact the cutoff. JEE Main Performance: Your overall score and performance on the JEE Main exam will also play a crucial role in determining your rank. Preference Order: When filling the preference form during counseling, your choice of branch and college will influence your chances of getting an allocation. In Conclusion:While your rank is relatively higher than the expected ST category cutoffs for CSE/IT in these NITs, it's not a complete impossibility. Keep in mind that the cutoff ranks can change each year. It's advisable to check the JoSAA website and other reliable sources for the official cutoff ranks for the year you are applying, . Additionally, explore other NITs and branches that may be a better fit for your rank and preference
