The total tuition for the BTech course at both institutes is the same, i.e., INR 5 lakh. However, there is a slight difference in the total tuition fee for MBA and M.Tech courses. It can be said that NIT Silchar is a bit expensive but both institutes offer good scholarship opportunities to their meritorious students.
The fees for NIT Silchar MTech course ranges from INR 1.4 lakh to INR 2.30 lakh. The duration if the course is for two years. Students who want NIT Silchar admissions need to fulfil the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria is that candidate should have passed graduation with a minimum of 60% aggregate. Students also need to clear the entrance exams which include GATE or CCMT.
The BTech course fees at NIT Silchar consists of tuition fee, security deposit, etc. Some of these are one-time chargeable fees, while others have to be paid annually/semesterly.

Placements: The previous academic year had very impactful results in placements as well as in the internship rate for the CSE department. Referring to the Training & Placement brochure, the placement rate was 84% for my department, which also disclosed the following. The highest package was 60 LPA, the lowest package was 3 LPA, and the average package was 15–19 LPA. Current recruiting partners are Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, AWS, Cisco, Deloitte, Accenture, Commvault, HP, Infosys, ICICI Bank, ZS Assoc...
Placements: Very few students were placed from this institute. The highest package offered was 15 LPA, and the average package was 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Deloitte, Apple, Google, Accenture, etc. Most of the students from our institute got internship opportunities. The major roles offered were Financial Advisory and Market Analysis.
Placements: I don't have an idea about how many students get placed, but it is more than 85 percent in electrical engineering, as they go to the core sector and the non-core sector. I do not have an idea about the highest and the lowest packages. Top recruiting companies for our course are Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, and Cognizant. I do not have an idea about internships. My course students become electrical engineers, and if they go to non-core sectors, then they can become software engineers.
Placements: There is a placement cell which invites a lot of companies and firms for job opportunities. There are also opportunities for those who are willing to be an entrepreneur because students and the college also organize many times of hands-on workshops, research projects, and internships, as well as eminent scientists and professors talk to encourage students. Placements: Placement of our college is really amazing as compared to all the NITs in India. As this year is 2025, the highest placement stood at 96 LPA from the mechanical engineering department, which is really a great thing. Also, the average placement of our college is 13 LPA, which is really good.
Placements: In the B.Tech Mechanical Engineering course, around 75–80 percent of students get placed in the latest placement drive. The highest package offered is around 18 LPA. The lowest is 4 LPA.
