Furthermore, approximately 70% of students had the opportunity to secure internships, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with leading firms such as Bosch and HCL Technologies. This practical exposure not only enriched their skill set but also significantly boosted their employability. The top roles offered encompassed a wide array of positions, from design engineers to project managers, ensuring that graduates found their niche in the mechanical engineering landscape. NIT Silchar's Mechanical Engineering course truly embodies the essence of academic rigor and professional growth, preparing students to excel in a competitive job market.
Infrastructure: The Mechanical Engineering department at NIT Silchar is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure designed to foster an enriching learning environment. Classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated, featuring modern teaching aids such as projectors and smart boards, enhancing the overall educational experience. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus, ensuring students have constant access to online resources and research materials. The laboratories are a highlight of the department, with specialized labs for various branches of mechanical engineering, including Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Manufacturing Technology. These labs are outfitted with advanced machinery and equipment, allowing students to engage in hands-on experimentation and practical learning. Additionally, the central library houses an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources, providing an invaluable repository for students? academic pursuits. Hostel facilities at NIT Silchar are designed to ensure a comfortable living experience. Rooms are adequately furnished, and the hostels are maintained with regular cleaning services. The mess offers a variety of nutritious meals, catering to diverse dietary preferences, and the quality of food is generally well-received by students. For those looking for quick bites or snacks, the campus canteen serves a range of options, from snacks to full meals. Medical facilities are accessible on campus, with a dedicated health center staffed by qualified medical personnel, ensuring that students' health and well-being are prioritized. The college also promotes an active lifestyle, with sports and games facilities available, including a gymnasium, basketball and volleyball courts, and a football field. This combination of academic and extracurricular facilities fosters a holistic development atmosphere for students, making NIT Silchar an ideal place for aspiring mechanical engineers.
Faculty: At NIT Silchar, the Mechanical Engineering faculty stands out for their remarkable blend of expertise and approachability, fostering an environment where students feel encouraged to engage deeply with complex concepts. The instructors, well-versed in both theoretical foundations and practical applications, utilize innovative teaching methods that resonate with contemporary industry demands. The curriculum is meticulously crafted, weaving in the latest technological advancements, ensuring students are not just academically proficient but also primed for real-world challenges. When it comes to semester exams, students often find them to be a rigorous test of their understanding, striking a balance between challenging and fair; however, the institution boasts a commendable pass percentage that reflects the effectiveness of its academic support systems. Overall, the Mechanical branch at NIT Silchar cultivates a dynamic learning atmosphere, equipping students with the necessary skills and confidence to thrive in their future careers.
Other: When reflecting on my batch and course, I recall a vibrant and diverse group of individuals who shared a common passion for Mechanical Engineering at NIT Silchar. We graduated in [insert year], a time marked by innovative projects and collaborative spirit, which truly enriched our learning experience. I chose this course driven by a fascination with mechanics and a desire to understand how things work, from the smallest components to massive machinery. One of the best aspects of our course was the blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. The curriculum was designed not only to provide a strong foundation in engineering principles but also to encourage hands-on experience through labs and projects. This practical approach fostered creativity and problem-solving skills, vital for industry readiness. However, I often wished for more integration of real-world case studies and industry projects within the curriculum to further enhance our learning experience. While the faculty was supportive and knowledgeable, more industry guest lectures could have provided us with insights into current trends and practices. NIT Silchar?s campus buzzed with life, especially during events and fests that brought together students from various disciplines. The sense of community was palpable, with numerous extracurricular activities, clubs, and societies fostering collaboration and leadership. The campus environment, set against the backdrop of lush greenery and serene surroundings, provided a refreshing break from academic rigors. Connectivity to nearby towns was decent, allowing us to explore local culture and enjoy leisure activities. Additionally, the availability of scholarships made education more accessible for many students, further enriching the campus diversity. Overall, my time in the Mechanical Engineering program was transformative, filled with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The freshman experience was quite good.
Placements: The placement records in our college are quite impressive. The percentage of students placed in the ECE branch of the passing out branch this year was almost 90 percent. The highest package offered was 52 LPA, while the lowest package was 8 LPA. The average package is around 13 LPA. The top recruiters are Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Arcesium, and Intuit. Almost 60 percent of students got internships in companies like Qualcomm, Bharat Electronics, and Intel.
Infrastructure: The course curriculum of our college follows what is implemented in most NITs in India. It covers a diverse range of topics such as analog electronics, digital electronics, and signals and systems. The library is the largest digital library in all of Asia. The hostel facilities need improvement as the mess food is not up to the mark. The medical facilities are top-notch, with physicians and ambulances available for emergencies. The sports facilities are quite impressive, including an indoor stadium, outdoor football and cricket grounds, as well as volleyball and basketball courts. We have a standard-equipped gym in the indoor stadium along with table tennis and badminton courts.
Faculty: The faculty available for our course are highly qualified and have in-depth knowledge in their subjects. The teaching quality varies from teacher to teacher, as some might be less friendly. The course curriculum has been followed for many years, but they help us strengthen our basics. There are various clubs in the college that help us gain the soft skills required to make us industry-ready. The semester exams are moderate in terms of difficulty level, though a few subjects might be tough based on individual preference. The pass percentage for semester exams is 85-90 percent.

I am totally satisfied with my college and the branch that I opted.
Placements: In my course, a minimum 80% students get placed in every year from NIT Silchar. The highest package is 52.8 Lacs per annum and average package is 13.5 Lacs per annum. There are several companies that hire students from NIT silchar, such as Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, etc. Internship ratio is not so good but it is average. On average, 20 students out of 70 got internships.
Infrastructure: As everyone might be aware, Asia's largest digital library is none other than our college library named BHARAT RATNA DR A P J ABDUL KALAM LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE. Classrooms and labs are good, and there is Wi-Fi available as well as Ethernet connections. The food provided in the mess is also good, and in the hostel there is also a personal Ethernet connection provided, which is unlimited as well as free.
Faculty: The teaching style of the teachers in my course is outstanding; they explain very well the topics that are covered in the classroom and don't require you to study again from any other source; its enough to understand; just concentrate in the class on what the teacher is explaining in the class. Exams are moderate; if you attend class daily, you will easily pass the exams.
Other: As I want to be a software engineer, I chose the CSE branch. The best thing is that the probability of a job at the time of placement is good as compared to other branches.
