A current student's perspective on the food science department.
Placements: Food technology students do not get placements but they do get internships in the last year. You should be performing well in the internships if you want to secure a place in the company. They do provide placements for some other courses So if you can you should check other courses out.
Infrastructure: The building is okay in condition but it never gets renovated. The labs are small but if you are a small group then you will be fine. Wi-Fi is not great. Classrooms are okay. They have put new ACs in there so that is a start. They are improving the conditions but slowly.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. You should be making acquaintances with teachers. If you can become a teacher's pet. The curriculum in theory is great but in practical lags a bit but elp prepares students for industries so no worries. We have three exams hourly, mid-term, and end-term. Hourly and mid-term are easy and from the course but end terms are set up by outside and a little difficult. The passing % varies it can be 50% or 35% as per teacher.

BTech in Food technology at Punjab agricultural University Ludhiana.
Placements: Most of the students from our college get placements in their final year or even after that. The average package offered is about 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. Major companies like Nestle, Verka, and Amul recruit students from PAU for internship opportunities as well as job offers. The workplace quality of the internship and job is very good and promises a good salary as well.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are clean and well maintained. Most rooms on the premises are air-conditioned and well furnished. We are provided with a 24-hour library facility. We can study for the whole night as well in time of exams. The library is air conditioned as well. We have various departments for each subject for the practical knowledge about the particular subject. Our hostels are clean and fully furnished. We are provided a bed, an almirah, a study table and a chair. Washrooms are common on each floor. They are regularly cleaned and are in good condition.
Faculty: Our teachers are friendly, motivating, and very helpful in our studies. They regularly motivate us to study and remain focused in our college life. Most of our teachers are Msc. graduates or are Phd holders. Their method of teaching is very good and they make concepts easy to grasp. The exams are of moderate to hard level. Questions are of good quality and test students knowledge about the subject.
Other: We have regular events and various festivals at our college to help students engage in social activities.

This university is very good in the entire Punjab.
Placements: The placements are easy and feasible. The top recruiting companies visited our campus and offered many jobs, like Amul, Verka, Nesle, MTR Foods Ltd., and also government jobs like FCI, NABARD etc. The highest package offered to me was 5 LPA, and the lowest package offered was 2.5 LPA. Many students are interested in Amul only as it is a top recruiting company. About 30-50% of students got jobs in these popular companies. The internship rate is 100% in Amul company only. There are a total of 60 students in my course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is amazing. The hostels are situated inside the PAU. It has an excellent and huge area with various facilities like campus Wi-Fi, bigger sports ground, 24x7 electricity, big library and hospital facilities. The hostel fee is a bit high, and the hostel rooms are shared by two or more students as the rooms are bigger. They need to pay almost 9,000 per year and 4,000 (approximately) for each per wreck. There are two canteens present on campus with delicious food, and a cafeteria is also present there.
Faculty: The teachers are very disciplined and well educated. They teach us through smartboards and practical classes to gain more knowledge about this course, food technology. This course helps the students to gain knowledge, and the scope of food in India is high, as we know that India shares about 13% of total food exports, and it contributes about 14% of manufacturing GDP etc. The semester exams were a bit difficult, but if you study with full concentration, then you will easily score good marks in your exams. Exams like 1st hourly, mid-term and practical exams are conducted, and they contain weightage in your final exams.
Other: I chose food technology to gain some practical and theoretical knowledge of the food industry in India, as nowdays, our country depends upon food. To increase and improve this industry, I chose this course. There are various events and cultural programmes organised by the university to engage every student to show their talent and skills. We also get scholarships through many ways like NSP. Defense Scholarship Scheme Portal, category-wise scholarships etc. If you take admission through ICAR exam, then you will get a scholarship of 2,000 per month by National Talent Scholarship Portal etc.

The college should provide a placement cell.
Placements: The college does not provide placements to the students in food technology. It is the costliest degree in this university, and they charge more than 1 lac per semester. Students have to struggle a lot to find a good job. Moreover, finding a job related to your study is a huge challenge nowadays. It seems like the university just wants money, and the future of students is ignored, and only money is important to them.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. There are proper labs and classrooms for students. The food served in the hostel is very good. It is the best as compared to any other institute. Wi-Fi, canteen, hospital and sports facilities are good. They is no coach for cricket, which is the only complaint. Other sports teachers are handling this game.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were good. They are very friendly and helpful. They have in-depth knowledge of their respective subject. They are always ready to help students. There are no complaints regarding any teacher. From HOD to PA, from professors to lab attendant, all are very good, both in the profession and in personal.
Other: I have chosen this course because of the increase in demand for food. I noticed that the food sector is developing at a tremendous rate.

Really good faculty and have lot to learn.
Placements: There were very good internships in our course. Our whole batch has gone for esteemed industries for the internships. The industries were Amul, Verka, Mondelez International, Haldirams, Nestle, Cremica, etc. The placements were not there in our course.
Infrastructure: The college and hostel facilities are very much upgraded. The whole department and hostel both are equipped with Wi-Fi connection. The infrastructure of the college is very good as the college classes have projectors and ACs. The food was comparatively good and was eatable, sometimes the food was awesome.
Faculty: The faculty in the college was very capable of transferring their knowledge to all the students. They all gave us an ample amount of knowledge through their experiences. The college makes the student aware of various industrial production as the college is having an incubation center where food production is done and R&D is a continuous process.
Other: I love my course.
