Sikkim Professional University was established in the year 2008 under the name of Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University, on a 5-acre land. It was later named as Sikkim Professional University and much later earned recognition by the UGC. It has recognition of several other institutional bodies such as AIU, INC, BCI, PCI and SNC. The University ranks 54 as per the India Today rankings of 2024 in the Govt/Pvt universities category.
