College having qualified faculty and supportive management.
Placements: SPA University is one of the best college for the architecture and designing courses. Every year, around 30-40% of the students get on campus placement at our college. Average package offered for our course was between 4 to 6 LPA. Various corporate and government bodies visit this college for on campus placements. Students also get internships at this college with handsome stipend.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure available for our architecture course was well maintained and developed at SPA. All the necessary facilities were available for the students in the college campus. Wi-Fi, labs, library, canteen, classrooms, halls, sports complex, hostel, medical etc. facilities were available for the college students. All these facilities were of good quality.
Faculty: Faculty of the SPA University was highly qualified and knowledgeable for our architecture course. Professors of this college were helpful and supportive to the students. Their way of teaching was good and they made the student understand all the concepts. Course curriculum followed in the college was relevant and makes the students industry ready. Semester exams of our college were of moderate difficult level.
Other: Various extra curricular activities were organised in the SPA New Delhi. Many sports tournament and fests were organised in the college for the students' entertainment purpose.

Review of my journey in a few words.
Placements: In the first year alone, approximately 60 percent of the students secured placements. The highest package offered was 1,200,000, while the lowest was 130,000. Internships were available to all students, with architecture being a common offer. Many firms provided internships that often led to job offers.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available at all times in both the school and the hostel. Computer labs are readily accessible, as is a fully equipped library with a wide range of books. Thesis support is also available. The quality of food in the hostel mess is excellent. Additionally, a doctor visits the hostel five times a week.
Faculty: The teachers, all Ph.D. professors with extensive experience, are helpful. The curriculum is relevant, covering both 3D and 2D software, as well as drawings right from the first year. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and the pass percentage for both internal and external examinations is 40%.

I would recommend students to join this college.
Placements: Placements were average in our college. The average salary package offered was 4 LPA. Many IT companies visit our college for recruitment. The top role offered was UX designer. Our college offers a degree in architecture and planning. Construction management companies visit our college to hire students. The top roles offered were architect, interior designer, project manager, planning assistant, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was average. The library was good. Computer laboratory had outdated equipment. Mess facilities were average. Hostel facilities were better. Canteen facility was average, and the food quality was better.
Faculty: Faculty members were well-experienced. The teaching quality was better. The course curriculum was relevant to make students ready for the industry. Semester exams were difficult, and the exhaustive course curriculum involved long work hours.
Other: It was a good choice to pursue architecture from an esteemed institute of national importance. Our college should improve its infrastructure. Scholarships were provided to merit students. Fests like Utopia and freshers' parties were also conducted in this college.

The campus and hostel facilities are not good.
Placements: We get internship opportunities in our eighth semester as part of the curriculum. The duration of the internship ranges from 4 to 8 months, which varies as per the interest of the intern, firm, and work. We also have a placement cell. Some top companies that visited the college include Deloitte, EY, CBRE, EGIS, JLL, etc. The average salary package is around 5 LPA and the highest is 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: The existing labs are outdated and not maintained. There is not even a single sports ground for the whole college. Even for any sports-related events, students have to book the grounds on their own and conduct the events. The college provides very little funding for these things. The hostel does not provide accommodation for half of the students who are admitted. The infrastructure is also not good and not maintained. The drinking water facilities, the mess food, fire safety, etc., are of low quality. The hostel is almost 10 kilometers away from the college, and yet no college bus facility is provided. Students have to take cabs or auto-rickshaws on their own to reach college, which is very difficult.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are quite talented and supportive. They mostly consist of the alumni of the college, but there are also other faculty members. There are some faculty members who put a lot of pressure and workload. They are less supportive. Overall, faculty members are good. The curriculum is quite difficult. It gives very little time for other activities, and the workload is very high. There are 2 or 3 jury subjects and 3 or 4 non-jury subjects every year, out of a total of five years of the course. In the jury subjects, a part of the total marks is calculated through various submissions and assignments throughout the semester, and the remaining part of the marks is determined by an external jury. It consists of jury members who will come and evaluate the work after each semester.
Other: Extracurricular activities are not good in this college.

It has horrible infrastructure but the most helpful and amazing people you'll find in any college.
Placements: Most students usually move on to pursue master's in the college, but for those consider placement, the college does have a placement cell but it is not very active as students usually prefer looking for jobs on their own according to their preferences and because of the prestige associated with our college, finding a job is not hard. Starting salary package straight after the bachelor's degree can be as low as 4 LPA - 5 LPA and can go up to 10 LPA - 12 LPA according to your skill and the firm where you get the job. AEKOM and Atkins are some of the top recruiters but besides the big companies, many firms of SPA alumni present good opportunities for our students. Almost everyone lands an internship at SPA Delhi as a demand of the 8th semester with many landing internships at SPA alumni firms Starting of as junior architect, other roles vary from an urban designer to a landscape architecture to graphics designers according to the interest and specialisation of the student. It is a vast field with hundreds of opportunities. The roles you'll hold in future will depend on your interest and hardwork.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was built ages ago for less than half of the current student population and has not been upgraded. The campus is extremely small and divided into 2 blocks. The architecture and the planning blocks are 500m apart and traveling between them is quite hectic. The hostel on the planning block is for girls only with another hostel 10 km away at Maharani Bagh which is another major issue. The rooms are very less and are cramped with students and stationery. The mess and canteen food are decent. Wi-Fi, a library with an amazing collection, a decent canteen, and stationery with good quality cheap printing facilities are provided on campus. The classrooms have projectors for presentations but the quality is horrible. No medical facilities are available on campus but there are hospitals around. We have annual fests, sports events, and festivals celebrated amazingly in the MB hostel.
Faculty: Most faculty members are visiting faculty in our college and have their own practices. They are quite knowledgeable about real-life situations. They are extremely helpful but you have to take the trouble of asking for help. The curriculum is practical but focuses too much on unimportant things with important subjects like building services and budgeting are not given much importance. It makes it difficult for the students to compare the practicality and real-life situations of their designs. Since it is a ongoing process, we don't have exams like the rest of colleges. The marking is based on progress and everyday submissions rather than semester-end exams which put learning on the front seat and eliminate brainless memorization of information. Passing is not an issue in the course as long as you finish your submissions timely. But finishing them is another challenge faced by architecture students worldwide.
Other: The best part of the whole process is the culture of SPA Delhi which may seem very intimidating at first but is the heart of it. No one says no to any help. Seniors and juniors know everyone and help everyone in their work learning from each other.

If you are looking for fun along with studies, join this college.
Placements: Only 2% of students got placed. There are not many placements as people prefer to work on their own, instead of working under someone else. People prefer to study PG after the course. The package offered is 2-4 LPA. L&T offered the placements. A very few students got placed in Webby Toys and Incubus. Architect, structural engineer and project manager roles are offered.
Infrastructure: No Wi-Fi is available. Labs are there. The library is one of the best, and the rest are good. The hostel doesn't have proper facilities and infrastructure, but the environment is the best than anywhere in the world. It is the best place to be, and it feels like home. During the lockdown, I missed it a lot.
Faculty: The faculty members are very experienced, but the curriculum needs to provide more exposure. It doesn't make you industry-ready. It provides a lot of technical knowledge, but practicals are missed somehow. Faculty members are helpful and very caring. They work hard to make you ready for the real world.
Other: I had an awesome experience. The best environment, people and faculty are there in the college. They are very helpful.

    SPA Delhi BArch FAQs 2025

Q:   What is the SPA Delhi application process for BArch?
    A:

The application form can be downloaded from the website (spa.ac.in) or collected from the SPA Delhi admission office. Then the filled admission form has to be submitted at the admission office along with the relevant documents. Students must carefully check the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

Q:   How good is School of Planning and Architecture Delhi for a B.Arch?
    A:

SPA Delhi is one of the most desired colleges for studying Architecture among students, one of the reasons being that SPA Delhi is a government institution and another reason being that the institute is hard to get into, meaning only of cream of students can get admission to SPA Delhi. The institute is one of the top-ranked architecture institutes in India. As for how good the college is, there are certain determinants like faculty that are teaching the students, curriculum that is being taught, and placements provided to students that help ascertain that. The BArch Programme at SPA Delhi is a 5-year long course and is an internationally recognised course. In order to get admission to BArch at SPA Delhi, JEE Mains score is accepted. To understand better whether the college is a good choice for BArch, well dive into the factors like faculty, curriculum, and placements.
    Faculty at SPA Delhi:
The faculty at SPA Delhi involves renowned individuals in their respective fields. The staff teaching the students also happens to be employed working professionals who are actively working in the field. Students getting taught by actual architects help them understand more about the workings of the industry. This also impacts the way the students are taught. The students are taught more with the practical approach than the theoretical one, which is more effective for a BArch course. The teachers have a more hands-on constructive way of teaching. The teacher-to-student ratio is well balanced, making it easier for the students to reach out and clear doubts, ask questions etc. As BArch focuses on both technique as well as design, teachers conduct regular assignments and judge the abilities of the students on that basis.
    Curriculum:
It is important for a college to provide its students with a curriculum that caters to relevance as well as aids in the progress of a student. A good curriculum ensures that the students are taught in such a way that helps the students gain skills and prepares them for a professional setting. Since architecture is a nice blend of art and technique, the course curriculum for BArch involves subjects that focus on art like visual arts as well as technical subjects that focus on the engineering aspect of architecture like the Theory of Structures. The curriculum also involves research-based subjects along with computer training for software. The students have regular industrial visits, seminars and study visits. An internship is also mandatory in the curriculum since it helps students get industrial training and they also get a better perspective of working in a professional atmosphere.
    Placements at SPA Delhi:
The placement rate at SPA Delhi is average. The college does have an actively working placement cell, however, the students pursuing BArch either opt for postgraduation while some look for a job on their own. Many people prefer to work on their own after graduating from the course or enhance their skills by pursuing a master's in the field. However, that does not mean that companies are not visiting the campus to hire students. Several companies in the IT field, MNCs, and students are also offered jobs in the government sector. Around 33 students from BArch were placed according to the NIRF 2023 report and the median package provided by the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi was INR 6 LPA. Some of the top recruiters that visited the campus include Deloitte, Havells, Whirlpool, E&Y etc. The college saw an improvement in median package trends, while the number of students that got placed has seen a decline.
    Conclusion:
In conclusion, there are some positive as well as some negative points when it comes to studying at SPA Delhi. One of the negatives is that the faculty consists of actively working professionals, meaning that they constantly change which may break the rhythm of the learning experience for the students. Another negative is the placements. Not a large number of students get placed at the School of Planning and Architecture. The trends in placement are declining and the salary packages are not great. Also, the college does not help with internships for industrial training, and in most cases, the students have to search for companies to intern for on their own.
The positives of studying at SPA Delhi include learning from teachers that are working in the field and who have a hands-on approach while teaching. Another positive is that the course curriculum is relevant and caters to students skill enhancement. Another addition to the positives of studying at SPA, Delhi is that many top companies like Deloitte, Whirlpool and Havells visit the college for campus placement and of course SPA, Delhi is one of the most top rated colleges for architecture and is best for the BArch programme.
