Tamil Nadu Open University offers two-year B.Ed Special Education in distance education mode through the Department of Special Education. Besides, the university also offers two-year B.Ed programme. However, the student-teacher is
permitted to complete within a maximum period of 5 years, after the enrolment.
The duration for B.Ed Spl.Ed is two-years for candidates with RCI recognised D.Ed Specialisation Education, Candidates can complete the programme within a maximum period of four years, after enrolment. For aspirants who does not possess any RCI recignised D.Ed Special Education, the duration of the course is two and a half years.

Tamil Nadu Open University Diploma courses are offered for one or two years. Candidates need to complete a minimum of Class 10 to apply for Diploma courses. The university selects candidates for Diploma courses based on their merit in the last qualifying exam.

TNOU provides multiple courses in Open & Distance Learning Mode. These courses allows people to access education widely and remotely. ODL courses can be pursued in either online or offline mode. The total strength for seats for B.Ed admission is 1,000. These aspirants are admitted to Tamil medium (500 students) and English medium (500 students) based on rank list separately prepared for each medium. A total of 50 students are allotted to each Learner Support Centre. Candidates can get a seat in B.Ed based on their merit in UG/ PG examination.
Admissions are conducted twice between January and June. Admission to the courses is primarily merit-based. Moreover, the admission process is completely online. Hence, candidates can fill out and submit the application form via online mode through the Tamil Nadu Open University official website (tnou. ac.in). In addition, the university has set up 12 regional centres throughout Tamil Nadu to assist students in the application process.
Tamil Nadu Open University BA admission is entirely merit-based for the academic year 2024. TNOU BA admission 2024 is based on scores obtained by candidates in the Class 12 exams.
Tamil Nadu Open University keeps a brief window for offline admissions for certain candidates as they may not access the online application. If necessary, the personnel at all of the university regional centers and learner support centers facilitate and help students submit online applications.
TNOU offers two-year B.Ed Special Education in distance education mode via the Department of Special Education and affiliated colleges. The course is spread across four semesters. TNOU does not refunds programme fee once paid by the candidates. However, if on scrutiny, the applicant is found ineligible for admission to his or her programme of choice, an amount of INR 500 is with held by the university as processing fee. The balance amount of the fee already paid to the university is refunded to the applicant in such case.
