Thapar University BA Elgibility & Highlights 2025
The Institute offers a three-year full-time BA programme in several specialisations under the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology offers BA programme in partnership with the University College, Netherlands. TIET BA admission is currently open, candidates seeking admission can apply online. Admission to this course is merit-based and candidates are selected based on their HSC scores. The fee for BA programme offered under the Liberal Arts school is INR 4.20 lakh. The eligibility and more details of the course is given below:

Thapar University admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses is based on candidates' performance in several national-level entrance exams. For TIET BTech admission, candidates must have class 12 and a valid JEE Main score. Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission.
For the admission to B.E./BTech courses, the Thapar University has released the JEE Main cutoff, wherein, the most and least preferred among the General All India category candidates were B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.E. in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design and Technology), respectively. The cutoff rank for CSE and EE (VLSI and Tech.) as per the Thapar University JEE Main cutoff 2025, stood at 33379 and 77189 for the General AI category candidates. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) offers several scholarships for BTech, MTech, MA and MCA students. Scholarships such as Merit-based, Merit-cum-means, for Msc, MA and other PG courses are provided to the eligible students. Candidates must the eligibility criteria to avail these scholarship programs.
To get the BTech Merit Scholarship-I at Thapar University, applicants must complete their Class 12 and must have scored more than 95%. Additionally, the applicant must be among the top 50 students based on their All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2024, regardless of her/ his engineering branch.
For continuation of the scholarship in the second year, applicants must have a minimum of 8.50 CGPA in all previous semesters. In BTech Merit Scholarship-I, students get a total fee waiver.

Honestly, with 78% in boards, getting into Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology through the board merit route is quite difficult.
Cutoffs (especially for popular branches) usually go much higher.
