ICSI CS Executive Passing Marks are announced by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India on its official website. Passing marks are the minimum score that a candidate must secure to PASS the CS Executive Course. ICSI defined qualifying marks for this examination for each paper and the overall course. If a candidate fails to achieve the required minimum marks, he/she will have to reappear for the exam. Only candidates who will pass CS Executive will be allowed to apply for the next level of CS course, i.e., CS Professional exam.

Q:   After graduation also one can give the entrance exam for CS executives?
A: 
CS or Company Secretary Course is one of the most preferred Professional Course for Commerce students. Students of other stream may also pursue this course. CS course is conducted by ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) which is regulated by MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs of India). A student can register for CS Executive course either through: CSEET i.e., after clearing CSEET successfully or Direct Entry Route in which he/she may be a Commerce or any other stream graduate / post graduate with a specified minimum percentage of marks or has passed the final level of ICAI or ICMAI.
Q:   Can I appear for both modules of ICSI CS Executive exam together?

Yes, candidates can appear for both modules of ICSI CS Executive exam together. ICSI has commenced the registrations for CS Executive Dec 2026 for both groups. Candidates can apply for CS Executive Dec 2026 till May 31, 2026. But, candidates are advised to appear for both groups when they have prepared well for all 8 papers.

Q:   Does ICSI release centre list for CS Executive exam?

Yes, ICSI releases the CS Executive exam centre list for each session. ICSI CS Executive exam will be held across 177 exam centres in India. Candidates who will enroll for the CS Executive will be alloted the exam centre. Candidates can know the allotted ICSI CS Executive exam centre on release of the admit card.

Q:   What are the levels for becoming CS?
A: 

To become a Company Secretary candidates will have to pass the three levels prescribed below:

  1. CSEET: CS Executive Entrance Test is the entry-level examination afor class 12th candidates. 
  2. CS Executive Exam: After clearing the CSEET exam or having a Bachelors degree as per the eligibility criteria, candidates can register and enroll for the CS Executive exam.
  3. CS Professional Exam: After clearing the CS Executive examination, candidates can enroll for the CS Professional programme.

ICSI CS Executive Passing Marks

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India prescribes the passing marks or qualifying marks for CS Executive exam. According to the criteria set by ICSI, a candidate must secure at least 40% in each paper and 50% overall. If a candidate fails to meet the qualifying marks requirement, he/she will have to re-attempt for the exam. CS Executive Module-Wise Passing Marks (Qualifying Marks)

As ICSI opens its registration window for an exam session in two phases - single module and both modules, it also releases the qualifying marks criteria for each ohase separately. Check below to know ICSI CS Executive qualifying marks criteria for each module.

CS Executive Qualifying Marks Criteria for Both Modules:

A candidate will be considered PASSED in both modules of CS Executive exam in any of the following two conditions:

  1. If he/she has taken both modules simultaneously, and has scored a minimum 40% in each paper and 50% aggregate marks in all required papers in one sitting; OR
  2. If the candidate has passed in any one Module of Executive exam held under the old syllabus, before the introduction of the examination under current syllabus (new), and has secured a minimum 40% in each remaining paper and 50% aggregate marks in all required remaining papers in one sitting.

CS Executive Qualifying Marks Criteria for Single Module:

A candidate will be considered PASSED in one module of CS Executive exam if he or she has secured a minimum 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in aggregate of all papers of that module in one sitting.

Such candidates will be declared Passed in Executive Programme only if they pass boh modules.

Exemption in ICSI CS Executive Exam

ICSI also offers exemptions to a candidate based on certain criteria. According to the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, if a candidate has appeared in all papers of a module, for which he had enrolled, and secures 60% or more marks in any paper(s) and a minimum of 25% in each remaining paper(s) of that module, but fails in that module, will be granted exemption from attempting papers in which he/she has secured 60% or more marks, in any subsequent examination.

What if I don't want to avail ICSI exemption?

If a candidate does not want to avail exemption offered by ICSI, he/she can ask for cancellation of exemption. For this, the candidate will have to submit an application form on or before the last date of enrollment for CS executive exam session in which he/she wants to appear.

Furthermore, if he or she appears in all papers of a module he/she enrolled without any exemption and fails in one paper of the module, but secures at least 60% of the total marks of the remaining papers of that module, such a candidate will be declared PASSED in that module, only if he/she re-appears in the remaining one earlier failed paper and secures 50% marks in any subsequent examination.

ICSI CS Executive exam duration for each paper is three hours. CS Executive examination is divided into two groups. Gorup 1 consist of four papers whereas, group 2 consists of three papers. ICSI conducts each paper of each group on different days.

Q:   What is ICSI CS pre examination test?
A: 

Students who are registered under CS Executive new syllabus and CS Professional new syllabus shall have to appear for the Pre examination test to become eligible to enroll and appear for the CS Executive or CS Professional examination. The exam will be conducted by ICSI. the exam will be served as an eligibility criteria to appear for the main examinations. Candidates will be required to pay the pre examination test fee of INR 1000 online. Once the payment is realised, candidates will be sent invitation along with the login ID and password.

ICSI CS examinations for CS Executive, Professional is conducted at designated CS exam centres across various cities in India. The ICSI selects and announced the list of exam centres for each exam session.

Candidates who will register for CS Executive or CS Porfessional examination will have to report at the alloted ICSI CS exam centre on the day of examination. On the day of the CS Executive examination, candidates must ensure to carry the following documents, failing which candidates will not be permitted to enter the examination hall:

  • Admit card 
  • Any identity proof card issued by the Government authorities:
    • Passport 
    • Driving License 
    • PAN Card 
    • UID Card 
    • Aadhar Card 
    • Voter I-Card 

Candidates must possess the ID card as downloaded from individual online accounts at support.icsi.edu and should be attested by the authorized official of the institute. Candidates must affix their photograph in case the photograph or signature is not available on the CS Executive, Professional admit card. However, candidates must get it attested by the Gazetted member/Officer of ICSI/Principal of a Recognized School/Manager of Nationalised Bank.

CS Executive examination will be held in offline mode. Candidates will have to report to the alloted exam centre on the day of exam day. CS Executive examination is held twice in a year- June and December. Candidates must ensure to fulfill the below mentioned ICSI eligibility criteria to appear for the CS Executive examination:

  • Candidate must have passed the CS Executive Entrance Test or CSEET with the required score. 
  • Candidate must have cleared the Foundation Examination of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India
  • Cleared Common Proficiency Test (CPT) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)
  • Arts, Science, and Commerce Graduates/ Post Graduates (excluding Fine Arts) are eligible for admission to the CS Executive programme.
