The Admission Journey
In Punjab, after the completion of Class 12 exams, most students choose to join either Panjab University or the University of Delhi. Likewise, I myself was confused about which university to choose. I did not know which college to join or which course to opt for. However, after getting some help from my peers, I decided to appear for the CUET UG and IPMAT exams.
I cleared the CUET UG exam, and scored 625 out of 780 in the general category. However, I did not clear the IPMAT exam. When it was seat allotment time for Delhi University colleges, I did not get anything. At that time, I had only one option left, which was Panjab University. After completing the admission procedure, I finally secured admission to Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Chandigarh.
The Initial Days
I joined Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Chandigarh, two months late. By this time, most students at the college had made their own friend groups. I found it hard to engage with others and make friends for some time. In hostel, I got a room with senior girls.
Eventually, I started to get comfortable with others and made a few friends along the way. Initial days at the college were not easy. But, after some time, it all got better. Now, I am an active student, participating in all college activities.
Hostel and College Life
I had a lot of fun at my hostel. My friends and I often slept late at night, having fun all night long. However, several times we woke up late because of this. As a result, we arrived for class very late. We used to bunk our classes a lot and most of the time sat in the cafeteria, just for fun.
The quality of food provided at the hostel mess was not good. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be 'tasteless.' Mostly, we ate from the cafeteria, which provided better quality food compared to the hostel mess.
Growing Up
It was my goal to learn new skills and broaden my knowledge in the first year itself. However, looking at my current condition, I can clearly see that I am still falling behind. I am sure a change in schedule and a good mindset will help me achieve the same. I am yet to join an internship, which most students are currently doing.
As I now only have 1 year left of college, I need to get serious towards my studies. I have done all the class bunking and reaching classes late; now it is time to focus.
During my time at college, I have learnt a lot of things. I have grown as an individual and become more mature towards my studies. I have taken part in several college activities, including festivals and competitions.
Preparing for the Future
Throughout my college life, I struggled with the thoughts of my future career. I was constantly confused regarding what I would do after completing college. Sometimes I thought of pursuing Chartered Accountancy (CA), and sometimes of appearing for UPSC Civil Service Exam. All of those thoughts eventually faded away as time passed.
Now, I have made the decision to pursue a CMA course. I know that it can be hard to study the same, but I am sure that this will help me in my future endeavours.
As I am about to pass out of the college, I am sure that with some persistence and dedication I will be able to achieve my goals.
