In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Director of Jaipuria School of Business Dr Jitendra Kumar Mishra talks at length about the skill-oriented new age PGDM programme. He elaborates on the programme curriculum that is designed in coordination with the industry experts and also explains the pedagogy that uses a perfect blend of theory and practical sessions. Dr Mishra has vast experience of over two decades in academics. Q: What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?
A: At Jaipuria School of Business, student learning is the utmost priority. The entire eco-system is designed to facilitate students’ learning in the best possible way. Faculty members keep innovating methodologies and pedagogy to ensure students' engagement and their learning. case studies, role plays, field projects, group work, seminars, workshops and guest lectures are some of the popularly used interventions used by faculty members. Q: How are you preparing your students to be industry-ready?
A: Considering that our students of PGDM programme shall be joining the industry and have to excel over there, all possible interventions are met at Jaipuria School of Business to make the industry an integral part of the teaching-learning process. It starts right from designing the curriculum and continues until the students are placed through the campus placement process. At JSB there is a very strong industry advisory board that ensures that the curriculum and course content is relevant and updated. Also, it is a mandate that at least 30 per cent of each of the courses has to be delivered by practitioners from the industry. In addition, fortnightly guest lectures, monthly leadership talk, maintained mentorship by industry experts give students requisite insight about the industry and acquaint them with the industry practices and protocols during their course of programme itself.
In addition to the regular curriculum JSB provides a skill-oriented certification in the domain area of the specialisation that student chooses to make a career in. It includes certification in Design Thinking, Advanced Excel, Spreadsheet Modeling, Digital Marketing and NSNL, NCFM certification, etc.

Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?
A: Jaipuria School of Business offers a curriculum design in view of the requirements of industry 4.0. It is a good blend of courses on innovation, emerging technologies, digital intervention, etc. It has also have got a separate intervention through which the students are emerged into design thinking methodologies and are encouraged to develop prototypes has solutions for various problems.
