I am Chumchanbeni T. Odyuo, a native of Nagaland, and I am now enrolled at ABBS to pursue an MBA. I like to read, craft, sketch, and listen to music in my free time. I'm also always on the lookout for ways to increase my expertise. I am pleased to announce that a book published an abstract of mine. I also serve as the EDC club's coordinator at my college.

Q1. How did you choose your course of study in school (class XI-XII)? What made you choose an MBA at Acharya Bangalore Business School (ABBS)?

After completing my Class X board exams, like many others, I found myself in a dilemma. I had to decide whether to pursue Arts, Science, or Commerce. Ultimately, I chose Arts because I felt it resonated with my interests more than the other two streams. However, another important question arose: where should I continue my education? As the youngest member of my family and the daughter of a single parent, my mother strongly preferred that I stay at home for my studies. But I couldn't shake the feeling of suffocation within those familiar walls. Since I was young, I had a dream to go to Shillong and attend the same college where my father had once studied. So, after my exams, I made a bold decision.

I tried to enroll in my father's alma mater, but due to the delay in my exam results, I missed the admission deadline. Regardless of, I resolved to at least study in the same state as he did. I managed to secure a spot in a college in Shillong. Even though I was young and had no prior experience of living away from my family, I embarked on this new journey with determination and quickly adapted to my new environment. Two years passed by swiftly, and once again, I had to make a life-altering decision. During my higher secondary education, I had developed a deep interest in Sociology. Consequently, I decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the same college in Shillong where I had been studying.

Five years in Shillong went by in the blink of an eye. After completing my Bachelor's degree, I found myself at a crossroads, contemplating various options for my future. I considered pursuing an MA in Sociology, exploring professional courses, delving into the world of Fine Arts with a BFA, or even venturing into the realm of an MBA. To make an informed decision, I consulted an education counselor, who helped me carefully evaluate all my options. After much consideration, I decided to pursue MBA, setting the course for the next phase of my life.

Q2. How you crack admission in Acharya Bangalore Business School? What all entrance test(s) did you give? Any coaching classes that you took for preparation? Any other colleges that you were trying out for? What challenges did you face while opting for ABBS?

After deciding to pursue an MBA, I consulted my education counsellor again for guidance on the several colleges that offered this programme. I wanted to be sure I made the best choices possible for where to complete my studies because it was a big choice. So, as I continued to explore different colleges in Bangalore, I received a recommendation about Acharya Bangalore Business School (ABBS). As I dug deeper into my research, I found more and more reasons to consider ABBS seriously. The institution had strong ties to numerous businesses, the professors appeared to have excellent qualifications, and the curriculum appeared to be comprehensive.

After carefully weighing all these factors and discussing them with my counselor, I made the decision to pursue my MBA at ABBS in Bangalore. I believed that this choice would not only provide me with an excellent education but also place me in an environment where I could comfortably focus on my studies and personal growth. Once I had made the firm decision to attend ABBS and had the opportunity to clarify my doubts with the representative during the college recruitment fest in my state, there was still one significant challenge I had to overcome. As the daughter of a single mother with no secured income, I had no idea how I would manage to pay for my college fees. It was a daunting prospect.

However, I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of my siblings during this crucial time. They generously stepped up and offered to help me financially with my college expenses. Their willingness to contribute was a tremendous relief and lifted a significant burden from my shoulders. With their support in mind, I proceeded with the college admission process. I knew that I had to give an entrance exam to secure my place at ABBS, and I decided to take the K-MAT (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test). It was a challenging but necessary step on my journey to gaining admission to ABBS. After successfully passing the entrance exam, I achieved my goal of securing a spot at ABBS, thanks to the combined efforts of my dedicated siblings and my own determination. This marked the beginning of an exciting chapter in my life, as I prepared to embark on my MBA journey at ABBS, knowing that I had a strong support system in place to help me achieve my educational aspirations.

Q3. How do you spend your time at college? Which classes do you like to attend? Which extra-curricular activities are you a part of in college? If given a chance, what else would you want to do? How has your college experience changed you as a person? What opportunities do you see in the future?

In addition to attending regular classes, I made the most of my free time by spending it with friends and immersing myself in the world of books. It's funny how, despite thinking I hated math as a kid, I found myself drawn to the subjects that involved numbers in my MBA program. It turns out that I enjoy the practical aspects of subjects like accounting and statistics. Beyond academics, I became actively involved in the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of my college. I took on roles that allowed me to coordinate and assist in various events, including contributing to the monthly newsletter published by the club. This experience opened my eyes to the importance of giving back to society, and if given the chance, I would love to volunteer even more and make a positive impact on the community.

As a person, I've undergone a transformation since coming to this college. I used to be quite introverted, but by actively participating in webinars and various activities, I've gradually shed my stage fright. This newfound confidence has allowed me to socialize more easily with people, and I've discovered that I can connect with others in ways I never thought possible. Looking ahead, I'm excited about the future and the opportunities it holds. I'm eager to uncover more hidden talents and realize that I am capable of achieving far more than I initially believed. My college experience has been transformative, and I look forward to continuing this journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

Q4. What do you plan in future?

One of my biggest goals is to travel and experience new cultures, and I am also committed to building a financially stable future for myself. With my determination and drive, I am confident that I can achieve my goals and continue to make a positive impact on the world around me.
