Q: What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?
A: At The NothCap University, we promote an open environment. A more collaborative approach between students and faculty creates opportunities to bring forward new ideas and innovations. We have a student-centred education system. Faculty are accessible and available to the students. There is a focus on enabling students to develop their critical and analytical thinking skills, independent research skills, group work, problem solving and leadership skills to prepare them for their career. A well-designed course load with optimal contact hours is offered to students. Lectures are delivered using modern teaching aids. Students are also expected to do independent study and develop an in-depth knowledge of their subject through independent study. The University believes in applied learning that happens beyond classroom boundaries. Group work is assigned to practise teamwork in small groups within the class, and also to develop problem-solving and leadership skills. All the courses have some components and content which are completed using real-life case studies. International and national guest lecturers for industry speakers, government, NGOs and researchers regularly feature as part of the curriculum to further connect studies to the professional world. Socially relevant and interdisciplinary research is a strong point of the department. Critical thinking and freedom of mind essential components of education at NCU. We promote ‘outside the box’ thinking where students can engage in discussion, present their ideas and get new perspectives
Q: How are you preparing your students to be Industry ready?
A: Students go through a rigorous yet flexible curriculum that meets industry requirements and aligned with international standards. Additional skill development courses are offered and taken by our students to get industry-ready. Regular structured training programmes in collaboration with the industry are carried out at the department. Our curriculum is synchronous with the market and industry needs. We have more emphasis on implementation post-theoretical learning using group projects, mini-projects, industrial visits and expert lectures. We provide free professional tools to help them get industry-ready. Regular industry interactions through internships, projects, industrial visits and expert lectures. We have to focus on innovation and research. Projects are carried out on problem statements that are either given by the industry or taken from the industry. We have focus on developing initiative-taking, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Q: What quality do your students have which other college students lack?
A: We offer admission to students who have a positive attitude towards study. They demonstrate competitiveness and adaptability. In particular, they demonstrate a passion for the chosen course. They take up independent study beyond the classroom requirement.  Often they take up projects in their area of interest indicating passion and perseverance, qualities highly sought after by employers. Our students are able to think and work independently. Students have good social skills and common sense. They show commitment and determination towards the assigned tasks and complete their course and assignments.  Some students take part in sports activities, extra-curricular activities, become members of student committees or take up entrepreneurial activities. One of the traits is an inquisitive mind. Students ask questions in the classroom and meet outside the classroom to discuss various topics. Majority of the students have good oral and written skills in English. It makes it convenient for us to teach and easy for students to understand the topics taught in class. As students are given a lot of group tasks, our students demonstrate an ability to work in teams on various platforms.
Q: Do you think the curriculum of the courses taught in your institute fits in the requirement of the industry?
A: We have a flexible and industry-driven curriculum. It is In sync with the market and industry. It is periodically updated and moderated by industry experts and academicians from IITs. We have an outstanding industry-academia connection through which we bring speakers from industry to deliver some content of the course to our students. Students also do industry skill relevant courses every semester, which adds to their profile. We have an excellent placement track record for many years is a testament that our courses and the content taught in the class are industry-relevant. We have adequate resources to provide courses or programs which are in demand by the industry they can recommend or collaborate with e-learning platforms. Blended learning with access to industry-relevant quality education through MOOCs and other online material.
Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?
A: Innovation and entrepreneurship are essential for the growth of a country.  It is way forward for India. We are very receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship. We have funds allocated under the “VC Innovation fund,” through which we support entrepreneurship. Our incubation centre at the university plays an important role in supporting budding entrepreneurs. Also, we provide intellectual property rights (IPR) support to our students.  We have many MoUs with industry to support innovation, technology and entrepreneurship
