JEE Main Registration Trends: Number of Candidates Increasing Every Year
The number of candidates applying for JEE Mains exam is rising every year. In 2025, total number of candidates who appeared in both session 1 and 2 exam was 22.50 lakh, an increase of around 3.5 lakh from the previous year (2024). In 2023, the total number of candidates who appeared in both sessions was around 17 lakh, which increased to around 19 lakh in 2024. Every year, the number of candidates appearing in JEE Mains exam witnessed a growth of around 15%.
Factors Influencing Growth in JEE Main Registration
JEE Main exam is widely accepted as the benchmark for admission to top engineering institutes in India. The popularity of this exam is mostly due to the institutes which offers admission based on its scores. Top rankers of this exam are sure to get admission in institutes like NITs. The top 2.5 lakh candidates in order of merit also get the chance to appear in JEE Advanced exam for admission to IITs.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the number of candidates registered for JEE Main 2026 soon after the announcement of results. The data will be released online on the JEE Main official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Through total number of candidates registered for JEE Main 2026, one can see the exact figures state, gender and category wise. Candidates interested in applying for the exam must ensure they fulfill all the conditions of JEE Main eligibility criteria 2026 announced by the NTA.
