Q:   I have 3000 rank under OBC quota in JEE Advanced. Will I get selection at IIT Varanasi?
A:

IIT Varanasi has released the category-wise cutoffs for various BTech specialisations. For BTech admissions, JEE Advanced is conducted widely by IITs. A JEE Advanced rank of 3000 under OBC category can be considered as the decent rank, however, this rank is insufficient to secure BTech in CSE programme in 2024. Other than CSE, the top courses for which candidates have the option to get a seat at IIT BHU are Chemical Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering,   Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering and Ceramic Engineering.

Q:   How is IIT Madras JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 different from that of 2023?
A:

IIT Madras JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 was concluded for different courses such as BTech, Integrated BTech and BS. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates closed at a range of 159 and 10682. During 2023, the cutoff ranks for the same was closed at a range of 148 and 11185. Candidates can check the branch-wise cutoff for both the years in the table below, to get an idea of the change in cutoff:

Q:   What rank should EWS category candidates obtain to get CSE at IIT Bombay?
A:

To secure a seat at IIT Bombay for CSE, the candidate must obtain the neccessary rank as per the cutoff list. For admission to BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, the cutoff was 23 for EWS All India category candidates. Therefore, the EWS AI category candidates obtaining a rank of 23 or below can easily secure a seat in BTech in CSE, as per the last round of cutoff list.

What is a good GATE rank?

Another question that bothers students is what can be considered a good rank regarding the GATE 2026 exam. For most of the engineering branches, a rank under 200 will confirm a call from PSU, while a rank under 1,000 has a good chance of getting your preferred branch in IITs or NITs.

Q:   As an OBC AI category candidate, can I get admission into IIT Delhi with 7000 rank in JEE advanced?
A:

IIT Delhi OBC cutoff 2025 for JEE Advanced is yet to be released. However, during the last round cutoff in 2024, the JEE Advanced closing ranks for BTech admission varied between 89 and 3185 in the All India quota. In the first round, the cutoff ranks were more competitive for admission compared to the final round. Therefore, based on last year's cutoff ranks, a JEE Advanced rank of 7000 does not allow for admission at IIT Delhi for any BTech or Integrated BTech courses for students belonging to the OBC AI category.

Q:   What is the minimum mark or rank required in JEE Main to get a seat in the BSc department of IISc Bangalore?
A:

IISc Bangalore cutoff 2024 has been released for BSc (Research) in Physics in the form of opening and closing ranks. IISc Bangalore had released its last-round for the candidates seeking admission through JEE Main scores. The minimum rank for B.Sc. (Research) in Physics based on last-round cutoff was 903 for the students belonging to the General All India Quota.

Further, for the OBC AI category, the required rank stood at 1665. Check out more cutoffs related to different AI categories in the table given below:

CourseGeneralOBCSCSTPWDEWS
BSc (Research) in Physics903166558131441214
Q:   How much GATE score is required to get admission in IIT Delhi for M.Tech?
A:

For admission to an MTech course at IIT Delhi, candidates must have a GATE score greater than or equal to the cut-off marks. The cut-off varies across the MTech specialisations and reservation categories of the candidates.

In addition, the cutoff list mentions the minimum marks and ranks that the aspirants should have secured for selection. The overall cutoff for GATE may lie between 350 and 800 marks. This cutoff range is as per an unofficial source and hence, is indicative.

Candidates must remember that a good GATE score doesn’t guarantee a job at PSU or the IITs. Most PSUs and IITs conduct interviews and GD before finalising a candidate. All candidates must prepare for GD and personal interview along with the GATE so they don’t get disappointed even after getting a good rank in the exam.
