Why is BSc (Hons) in Mathematics best course to study in today’s competitive era?

Dr Seema Thakran, Senior Assistant Professor at the Applied Science Department of The NorthCap University shares reasons why a student should study BSc (Hons) in Mathematics.

Mathematics is one constant subject and language spoken universally in our education systems whether primary or higher level. Its definition varies and depends in which field you are in. It is a basic component of subjects varying from Physics to Economics.

Mathematicians can have an understanding of the Universe whether it is the opportunity to be skilled in interesting theoretical concepts or structuring the blocks in the areas such as quantum mechanics, which skilled up students to enter a number of professional fields.

BSc (H) Mathematics at The NorthCap University is not a course to simply drop into and is taught on the presumption that students will have a real understanding of basic concepts of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics before beginning the course. It helps students on making personal and professional decisions and guides them to create a career path. Students can choose subjects of their interest from other branches of study as Open Electives offered to them by different departments for interdisciplinary learning. The placement cell provides 100 per cent placement assistance to the students after successful completion of the second year in getting good jobs at renowned companies.

BSc(H) Mathematics graduate can see a career in exploring and teaching theoretical mathematical knowledge as a Mathematics teacher.

The skills of data analysis, innovative, and original thinking make them eligible for positions such as data analyst, business analyst, investment analyst or a tax advisor. Statistical analysis knowledge opens job opportunities in social research, geography and medical statistics. The graduate can grab an IT or software development based career on the basis of computer skills learned in the course. Video games like PUBG are very popular in the 21^st century and Mathematics honours students creative and critical thinking easily lend them a job in this field too.
