How are CUET Qualifying Marks Determined?
CUET qualifying marks or CUET cut-off is determined by participating universities. Soon after the declaration of results, CUET colleges release the course-wise CUET cutoff or merit list to shortlist candidates based on the score or percentile obtained. For instance, the University of Delhi releases the merit list, BHU releases the course-wise CUET cut off and so forth. Some of the factors that determine the CUET cut off or CUET qualifying marks are:
- Course and Programme: The competition level across CUET courses and universities varies. The cut off can be higher if the number of seats is fewer and the number of applicants is more.
- Difficulty level of the question paper: CUET cut off is also determined based on the difficulty level of the question paper. To balance the difficulty level across various slots and create fairness CUET normalisation process is applied.
- Reservation: If the candidate belongs to a reserved category such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or OBC, the cut off will vary. Cut off for reserved categories are lesser than General category cut off.
