Mystory@Kartik Rawal: How I chose my course and college
I chose BBA as I am from a business background. I have a dream of building my own business empire and making it big. I wanted to learn about the one thing that I am most interested in and since learning the theoretical part is also important, hence, BBA.
My current college, Garden City College (GCC), Bangalore was not my first option. The first option was BBA in Christ University where I could not gain admission because of some weak points but that's okay since I got to know the areas in which I was weak. Later, I came to know about GCC from Shiksha.com. I went to the college and approached them for admission to BBA. I applied instantly as I came to know that there were no entrance tests and that entry was on the basis of your 12th standard percentage. While applying, I had my reservations as I had not seen the college properly but once I did, I felt more convinced.
Presently, I am happy with GCC. I have no regrets in choosing this college as it is giving me a much needed exposure for everything and this is exactly what I wanted from my college.
My college routine is as follows: Attending classes without fail followed by sitting with my friends in our favorite hangout; a garden named 'Lagoon'. We chit chat for a couple of hours. On the days that my friends have to go back early for some reason or the other, I stay behind to spend time with my best friend. We talk, study and then I proceed to my hostel and she to hers.
The class that I enjoy the most and that I never want to miss is Production and Operations Management (POM). The faculty, Mr Raja, takes us through an imaginary business world to give us a real-life business experience and this gives a feel of actual on-the-ground practical learning.
The best thing I have received from this college is that they have changed my perspective. With the degree of exposure that I am getting, I can feel my confidence growing. I am participating in several competitions and programs. I have also experienced a reduction in my temper levels thanks to the college routine, my teachers and my friends here. I have participated as a dancer in our annual function, Gardenia. I also participated in an industrial visit to Coca Cola.
Given a chance, I would like to do photography for my college. I would also like to work in the capacity of an event manager for any function of the college, in fact, I would like to lead the annual function in technical (IT) as I did in my school's biggest annual function.
