Q:   Is IPMAT IIM Indore better than IIM Rohtak's IPMAT?
A:

IPMAT and IPM Aptitude Test (IIM Rohtak) have similar syllabus but the difficulty level is different. Both exams have Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability sections. However, IIM Rohtak's IPMAT exam has an additional section- Logical Reasoning. While IPM Aptitude Test is an easy exam, IIM Indore's IPMAT is moderately tough but to say which is better totally depends upon the college a candidate is targeting for the five-year integrated programme. The participating colleges for both exams are different. If a candidate's dream college accepts IPMAT score, then they should appear for IPMAT exam. The IPMAT exam conducted by IIM Indore is accepted by other institutes such as IIFT, IIM Ranchi, Nirma University,  Alliance University,  NICMAR University,  Department of Management Studies and NALSAR University of Law. The benefit of IPMAT by IIM Indore is that the exam is accepted by multiple top management insitutes in country, whereas the one conducted by IIM Rohtak is only accepted by IIM Rohtak.

Difference between BBA and Five-Year Integrated BBA MBA Course

1. Core Topics

Candidates pursuing a five-year integrated MBA degree have a certain advantage in terms of the syllabus. In the five-year programme, no courses or subjects will be repeated. Candidates will progress to advanced levels of management education after two years.

In case of pursuing MBA after BBA, candidates will have to repeat courses. In an MBA programme, candidates come from various backgrounds. Candidates with BBA / BBS degrees will have to repeat core subjects.

Q:   Which are the entrance exams conducted for BBA/BMS admission?
A:

Some of the entrance exams conducted for BBA/BMS admission are:

  • CUET
  • SET
  • BUMAT
  • GAT
Q:   What is the selection process for admission to Integrated programme?
A:

Candidates desiring to take admission to the integrated programmes of IIMs or other top institutes must appear for the entrance exams. On the basis of the candidate's score in the entrance exam candidates will be shortlisted for the group discussion/personal interview rounds. The final selection will be based on the candidate's overall score in all the stages.

Q:   What one is better - CAT or IPMAT?
A:

The choice between CAT and IPMAT is based on the career goal. CAT is the most recognised test for admission into MBA programs, mainly for those who have completed their undergraduate studies. It is accepted by the top management institutes like IIMs. Whereas IPMAT is targeted at those students who would like to join directly for a 5-year integrated programme BBA+MBA immediately after schools and institutes such as IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak are providing this integrated program. And if one looks for the MBA, post-graduation CAT would be more suitable for it.

2. Different Institutes

Post a BBA degree, candidates can opt to select a different university or B-school for their management education. However, students pursuing a five-year integrated BBA MBA programme have no such option. Many students prefer to pursue MBA courses from premier B-schools such as Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) or other top MBA colleges. Pursuing a separate MBA degree helps candidates be a part of two institutions.

Alternately, in a five-year integrated MBA programme, candidates don’t have the option of changing institutes.

3. Entrance tests

In the case of an Integrated MBA degree, candidates have to appear for an entrance exam/selection procedure just once. However, in the case of separate degrees, candidates have to undergo admission and selection procedures twice. In the latter situation, candidates generally opt for exams such as CAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, etc. Top institutes such as IIMs offer integrated programmes based on the score in entrance exams—CUETIIM Indore IPMATIIM Rohtak IPMAT, NPAT, UGAT.

4. Work Experience

Candidates seeking work experience before pursuing post-graduation should ideally opt for separate BBA and MBA degrees. In an integrated BBA MBA dual degree, candidates don’t have the option of working after completion of a three-year degree.

5. Course Fee

The course fee of the Integrated MBA is more than BBA and MBA programmes, as the institute's expenditure on the student is for five continuous years. Therefore, for many students, Integrated BBA will be more expensive than a three-year BBA programme.
