Review of Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology.

Placements: 80 to 85% of students get placed every year in our college. The highest salary package offered may be 25 LPA, and the lowest would be 10 to 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Zoho, Teach Mahindra, Wipro, etc. Design engineer, production engineer, and software engineer roles were offered in my course.

Infrastructure: College has high-quality facilities. Labs, classrooms, and libraries are available. Hostel range is medium, and our hostels have a mess where you can eat your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, it has a dispensary for students. Our college has all sports teams available.

Faculty: Teachers here are highly professional and knowledgeable. They are helpful to students. The course curriculum is relevant as well as useful for industrial operations. If you study well, semesters are easy to crack. The pass percentage would be 80 to 85%.

Other: I chose Mechanical Engineering because I love automobiles. In this course, you can learn about the theoretical knowledge of how an automobile works. There is no need for improvement at all. There are many more clubs and events hosted every year in this college, like culturals, sports day, etc.

A good institution to start our college life. Best placement compared to other government colleges.

Placements: Recruiting companies are Zoho, L&T, SPIC, Titan, and Automation, which are some of the recruiters of our college. These companies represent a diverse range of industries, providing graduates with opportunities to explore careers in technology, engineering, manufacturing, and beyond.

Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure and rooms are okay, not much like other private hostels. The hostel infrastructure and rooms are decent, meeting basic needs but not as luxurious as private hostels, offering a simple and functional living space. Guys, don't expect more.

Faculty: Faculty are more friendly when we give an interest in our studies. They give their full potential to grow our careers. Faculty are friendly and fully support students who show interest in studies, helping them grow and achieve their career goals effectively.

Other: The college campus has more greenery, and cricket, chess, football, and more sports activities are the most active sports in our college.

A very large campus of 200 acres with greenery.

Placements: A separate staff is there to take care of placement from the 7th semester. We can appear for placement. A total of more than 50 companies visit the campus with the highest package of 7.4 LPA and an average package of 3.5 LPA. The placement percentage ranges from 80 to 90.

Infrastructure: The campus life is very good. Each department conducts 2 symposiums a year. There are around 15 clubs in the college that actively conduct various events for students. The hostel facility is not good, the maintenance is low, and no proper response is given by the hostel management for any issues.

Faculty: The curriculum is not as good compared to other colleges. We are studying core papers in the 5th semester, while others do that in the 3rd semester. We have 3 internals for which they take the average marks. Every faculty member is a qualified staff with great subject knowledge. They are easy to approach, and we can share our insights with them very comfortably. But some staff are different; they are very helpful for students to do real-time projects.

I am absolutely satisfied with this college.

Placements: About 75% of students are placed in our course. The highest salary offered in our course is nearly Rs. 80,000 per month, and the lowest is nearly Rs. 10,000 per month. Zoho is the top recruiting company for our course.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in all areas on campus. Labs are provided with good surroundings and good machines for students. A library is available for studying. Lots of books are available in the library, so students get the knowledge that they need.

Faculty: The teaching quality is good. They are friendly with students. The course curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are not very difficult for students. They help students to gain good knowledge. The pass percentage is high.

It is a very good college with good infrastructure.

Placements: Many students get placed in many core and IT companies. High salary packages are not offered in our college. Many companies visit our college to recruit students. Top recruiting companies are Zoho and Tata Motors. Around 40% of students get internships in companies like Next Wave, Zoho, and many more. Mechanical engineering course includes many practical courses like M BAJA Car creating competition. Our college participates in this competition every year.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good compared to other engineering colleges. Labs, classrooms, and the library has new buildings with updated facilities. Hostel and mess facilities are good. There are separate hostel buildings for different year students. The quality of the food is good.

Faculty: Teachers in our college are well-educated. They have an experience of 3 to 4 years. They are good at teaching and other activities. Students can clear all the papers without arrears. The course curriculum makes students ready for industry. Semester exams are easy if students study well. The pass percentage is more than 75%.

Other: I choose this course because I loved machines and properties. I can learn the basics of machines and properties in this course. Lab experiments should be changed. Many events are conducted in our college. Many scholarships are provided by the government to students. It offers courses like CAD and CAM.

The college has a low fee and suggested for ECE.

Placements: Mechanical engineering students were given a option to choose between CORE and IT at the end of the 3rd year. 60% of the entire current final year batch have been placed until now (As of Oct 2022). The highest salary package is around 8LPA (offered by Zoho). Least is by MM FORGINGS (1.5LPA) And the average is around 2.7LPA. Some of the top recruiting core companies for mechanical engineering are ( LnT, Saint gobain, Delphi TVs, brakes india, Yamaha motors). All the students will be gaurenteed a government intern at the end of the 3rd year as we are a government college. And Saint Gobain offers summer internship to students whose CGPA is above 9. Top roles are Design Engineer, Gets, quality inspection, marketing etc.

Infrastructure: The department of Mechanical engineering has many laboratories and workshops ( For Kinematics, Fluid mechanics, welding, thermal)etc. . Sangamam hall (dedicated to placement and activities), mini drawing hall (for all drafting and modeling), CAD lab (for computer access software), Virtual classroom, E library, Library with very vast variety of authors and books. Wi-Fi were provided and restricted to very few apps and limited area. Classrooms were given good ventilation and spacing. Hostels for 2nd year was not satisfactory, 3rd year was good, 4th year was also half-satisfactory. The food overall is very average but can be tolerable. Only vegetarian menu (except eggs on few occasion). Sports are very welcomed. Intense sessions were conducted both on evenings and mornings.

Faculty: All the teachers were very much qualified and knowledgeable. Every associate and assistant professors will have a Ph.D. degree in their respective department. But as for the overall teaching quality it's not very efficient as it should be. Even though the professors were qualified, the teaching is quite average. The curriculum still follows the traditional raw concepts. I don't think that the students would be industry ready just by learning the syllabus. The semester exams were actually pretty easy (as we are an autonomous college). But the correction is very unbiased and rigorous. So, the pass percentage is actually quite low (around 60%).

Other: Mechanical engineering is my go-to choose ever since my childhood. The best thing about mechanical engineering is the application of real time Physics. Everyday concepts/mechanism were built just by mechanical students. If we get to know about how an actual real time industry works, it would be a great asset for us as it would help us to build the required skill. Events such as symposium, and some fun events are organised by various clubs. Scholarship was offered to the eligible needy students with low annual income. Many club activities, NSS, NCC were also available. Campus is surrounded by forest, Polytechnic college, schools, CECRI.

One of the best colleges with campus full of greenary.

Placements: Placements are quiet good. Nearly 75 percent students were placed. The highest package was 25 LPA, average package was 5 LPA. Saint Gobain is the top recruiter of our college. The students must attend internships at the end of 3rd year. The college would arrange the internships.

Infrastructure: There is a spacious library with plenty of books, classrooms are clean, laboratories must be upgraded as per the modern world. Hostel was very good, the food was average. They provide hygiene vegetarian foods and eggs in alternative days, besides there is a dispensary for hostel students. There is good and clean courts for all games.

Faculty: The teachers are friendly with the students and helps us to reach our dreams. Their teaching quality was good as they are experienced in teaching field. The course curriculum was relevant and they offers many online courses with NPTEL. The semester exams are bit tough.
