College days at University of Calicut.
Placements: Students from our college got placed in various roles such as software, consultant, finance, etc. Also, they got placed in top companies like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Our skill level decides our salary packages. We go through various trainings before placements.
Infrastructure: According to norms, only limited seats are provided for the students. So interested students must apply to the respective courses within the time period. We were in the control of our class incharges at all times. So we can't roam inside the college during class hours.
Faculty: Basically highly graduated teachers with a lot of patience and understanding. Mostly they deliver their class in the form of practical discussions. Undoubtedly, we have gone through a lot of practical workshops. They understand the circumstances of us and help us in critical situations.

An apt place to enhance your teaching aptitude and improve your prospects of joining as a teacher.
Placements: There is not much placement provided by the college. However, in our batch, the final years attended a drive to a school from Tamil Nadu and about 5 students got placed there. Internships are a mandatory part of the course and all the students are provided with schools to carry out their 4-month internship.
Infrastructure: The college has a proper infrastructure. There are enough classrooms, halls to conduct programs and equipment rooms. Sick rooms are also available for both girls and boys. The college does not have a canteen of its own. However, it is located inside the John Mathayi Center campus, so students have access to that canteen, where the food is affordable and good.
Faculty: All the faculty are well trained, qualified and resourceful. They are very approachable and help the students in every way possible. The course-written exams are not at all difficult. However, the coursework requires a steady schedule and proper time allocation.
Other: The course is well-rounded and comprehensive. The papers offered are detailed and provide better insight and a foundation for becoming a teacher. The 4-month internship as well as the initiatory experience are truly enriching; they provide real-life experience as a teacher in a real-school setting. There are fine arts fests, arts fests and different celebrations carried out at the college.

Students also asked

Q:   Which courses can I do after a D.Ed.? Should I do a BSc or B.Ed?
A:

The best choice depends on your career aspirations:

·       If you want to become a teacher: Opt for a B.Ed. It's the mandatory qualification for teaching in most schools.

·       If you want to pursue a career in research or a science-related field: A BSc would be more suitable. It provides a strong foundation for further studies and specialised careers.

·       If you're unsure: Consider your interests and skills. Do you enjoy teaching and interacting with students? Or are you more drawn to scientific exploration and research?

Additional options:

·       M.Ed.: If you already have a B.Ed., you can pursue a Master of Education for career advancement or specialisation in a particular teaching area.

·       Diploma courses: Various specialised Diploma courses in education or related fields can enhance your skills and knowledge.
