College is not a bad choice, and in academics you should work on yourself to get placed.
Placements: Around 10-20% of students get placed with an average package of 2.5 LPA.
The highest package offered in my knowledge was 4.2 LPA
The lowest was 1.8 LPA. There are not many well-known companies for placement. Even TCS and Infosys don't come every year. The new rule in KTU allows final-year students to get internships in their final year instead of attending college physically.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are normal. Labs are equipped and work normally. The hostel facility is only available for girls, and food is provided by the canteen, which is average in my opinion. Boys stay as PG, and food is included. There is a field for football that is used to play cricket, handball, khokho, and whatnot.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are well qualified. Courses, in my opinion, aren't much relevant. Semester examinations aren't tough; if you don't have good handwriting, you'll struggle to get passed marks. You can get yourself equipped by doing relevant courses and learning relevant technologies.
Other: I chose this college since it's aided/semi government. Courses must be updated. Techfests and other campus events are good and enjoyable. If you are good at sports, you can easily find your place on the college team. There isn't much crowd now due to low demand for engineering, but since a new nursing course is being introduced, I guess college will be back to a normal crowd.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2023

3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
One of the best engineering colleges in Kollam.
Placements: About 30–40% of students got placement in the civil engineering department at this college. The average salary package is about 15,000 per month. The highest salary package is 29,000 per month. About 30 percent of students get internships from this college.
Infrastructure: The college has more than 10 classrooms per department and different buildings for each department. A Wi-Fi facility is available. Library, canteen, playground, labs, doctor's room, etc. are available. And there is a ladies hostel available in the college compound and students are allowed to stay in private hostels near the college.
Faculty: There are more than 30 staff members for each department. The teachers were so helpful, qualified and knowledgeable in the corresponding subjects. The teaching quality of each faculty member is impressive. The curriculum that follows is relevant. Semester exams in college are moderately tough. The pass mark in internal is 35 out of 50 and in the university exam, it is 40 out of 50.
Other: I choose civil engineering because I like fieldwork rather than cooperative jobs. The best thing about the course is the content of the syllabus, which helps to improve our skills. There are so many extracurricular activities held in college and so many scholarships are also provided.

Satisfied with Faculty Members but Dissatisfied with Transportation and Canteen.
Placements: Placements are there, but they are very few compared to the number of students. Placements are very few, mainly for Computer Science students, for the past 2 years. Placement includes an aptitude test and also an interview. Salary packages are very low. I wish to take M.Tech after completing this B.Teach degree and after that apply for a job or to be placed from the college I am studying for M.Tech.
Infrastructure: Labs are good and have a good Wi-Fi connection. The library is also very good, as we could study there during exams. I am not a hosteler, but I stayed in the hostel during Teach Fest, Cape Fest, and all. Rooms are good, and the bathroom is also not bad. But the food is not as good as we eat at home. I don’t know other information as I am a day scholar. Life on campus is very cool as we have enough freedom in our college. Programs are very few compared to other colleges. We have a Teach Fest every year, and it is awesome. Everyone unites and makes the program better. It includes robotics expos, VR, fashion shows, dance competitions, music competitions, auto shows, pro shows, etc. Mainly, this tech fest is conducted in the April-May month. We have an arts fest also in the same time period. In arts, we are able to show our talents and win prizes for good performances. Sports are there in our college. We have a physical education faculty. He tries his best to encourage students and make them participate in inter-college meets, state sports meets, etc. Sports competitions are also held in our college once a year. The college has many Instagram pages, and when we search on Google, we get enough information about the college.
Faculty: The academic calendar of the university is not good. We didn’t get enough time to complete a semester. After completing a semester, the next one comes soon, and the exam for the next one comes, and the semester ends within 2-3 months. So, it is very hard to cover all the syllabus within this short time period. In our college, faculty members are very good, as they are well-educated and sincere in teaching. Many of them have completed Ph.D. They teach each and everything clearly, but time is not enough to teach everything clearly and completely. So, they skip many portions and teach us only the important ones. When a semester starts, the first internal exam comes soon, then the second internal, and after two weeks or something, the semester exam also comes. So, it’s very difficult to study the subjects.
Other: I have to pay a tuition fee of 35,000 per year and also have other fees excluding the tuition fee. I have a merit seat in my college, so the fee is less compared to management seats. I have to pay a tuition fee of 35,000, special fee of 4,000, SAF of 1,000, CGPC of 500, Cape Teach Fest fee of 500, KTU arts and sports fee of 530, and insurance premium of 70. So, I pay a total fee of 41,600 per year. The college has many categories like merit seats, MGT seats, NRI seats, TFW seats, and reserved seats for SC, ST, IEC, and OBC categories. The management seat has a total fee of 71,600, the NRI seat has a total fee of 1,06,600, the TFW seat has a fee of 6,600, and SC/OBC/OBC categories have a fee of 1,600. Many scholarships are available; we could apply if we need it. But the scholarship amount will be very less compared to the fee.

Review of College of Engineering, Pathanapuram.
Placements: About 30-50% of students are placed in my course every year. The highest package offered in my course is about 5-7 LPA, the lowest package offered is about 1 LPA, and the average package is about 3-4 LPA. IT companies are the top recruiting companies. About 30-50% of students get internships, and the internships are provided by Qspiders, Kerala Startup Mission, ICFoss, etc. Roles offered in my course include becoming a software engineer, software tester, and other jobs in IT companies.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available in my department are good. It includes a computer center with a good Wi-Fi connection, classrooms with a good atmosphere, and a library with varieties of books. The quality of the facilities in our hostel is also good, and the quality of food in the canteen is nice. Every year, the college conducts academic activities like sports and games for students.
Faculty: The teachers in my college are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also good. My course is curriculum relevant and it makes students industry-ready. The semester exam is both easy and difficult for students. The pass percentage is about 70-80% in my course.
Other: My college atmosphere and environment are good for studying and engaging in academic activities. My college provides extracurricular activities like IEDS program, women's cell activities, arts and sports programs, hackathons, etc. for students.

Review of College of Engineering, Pathanapuram.
Placements: The college offers average placement with very low LPA; many startups come for recruitment, but only a few students get placed. However, some better companies also come for recruitment, such as Infosys, Wipro, and TCS, but they offer only a basic salary of 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college has an average hostel, situated in a rural area. If you want to go to town, the only way is to ride your bike; bus services are few, and there are no buses at night. However, the hostel has a beautiful ambiance and is friendly. There are many activities for passing the time.
Faculty: The teachers are very friendly, and some of them are like close friends, really matching our vibe. However, some teachers do not know the subjects they are teaching and have only limited knowledge, while others are very knowledgeable. If you study, you will pass.

Nice college with a nice ambience.
Placements: Average placement with an average LPA: Many students got placement, majority 80% percentage of students get placement every year, but the annual income per year is very low. However, top companies are hiring students like Wipro, TCS, etc. But the annual income is very low.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility is little good compared to other colleges because there's no restriction in college hostel. The hostel food is also very nice and tasty. Sometimes the food is very bad, but most of the time, food is nice. It is worthy for that money; hostel ambience is also nice.
Faculty: The teachers are very nice with a friendly nature, but when the exam time comes, teachers are not so friendly; otherwise, they are good. However, the university is very bad; the syllabus is not updated and it's a very bad university. They're not getting money from the students; very poor facility.
