Supportive faculty and positive environment at Dr. MGR Janaki College
Placements: Placement cell is active, and some companies do come for campus interviews. But most of them are not big MNCs like Wipro, Infosys, HCL, or TCS. The job roles are usually with startups or mid-level companies, and the salary package is on the lower side. Students looking for top IT jobs may need to apply off-campus.
Infrastructure: Campus is clean, peaceful, and safe for women. It has all the basic facilities like a library, computer labs, and a canteen. However, the infrastructure is decent but not modern or tech-savvy compared to other top colleges. One drawback is that the college does not have a hostel, so students from outside Chennai may find it difficult. Also, the canteen food was good in taste and hygiene, but the prices were high compared to the quantity provided.
Faculty: One of the best aspects of this college is its dedicated and well-qualified teachers. They explain concepts clearly and are always ready to help students, even outside class hours. The syllabus is covered thoroughly, and they make sure every student understands the basics, which helped me build a strong foundation in computer applications.
Other: From freshers day to annual cultural fests the energy and creativity of the students are amazing. Events like dance, drama, singing competitions, fashion shows, rangoli, mehndi and debate competitions are organized regularly. Every department also celebrates its own department fest giving students more opportunities to participate and showcase talent. The cultural committee is active and supportive encouraging everyone to take part regardless of their background or experience. Professional guests and judges are also invited which makes the events feel grand and motivating.

Our college provides good placement facilities.
Placements: The maximum of 100% of the students got placed from our course. The highest salary offered was Rs. 45,000 per month, and the lowest salary offered was Rs. 15,000 per month. The average salary offered was Rs. 25,000 per month. Top companies which visited our college for placements were Infosys, Wipro, Justdial, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), Netaxis, Sutherland, etc. Top roles in our course were offered in the auditing and management.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our course are classrooms, a seminar room, an activity room, an auditorium with air-conditioners, Wi-Fi facility, labs and a departmental library. The hostel was secured, and the canteen was hygienic. Medical facilities, sports and games were also excellent here.
Faculty: Teachers here were helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They explain things to students clearly with many examples and by conducting activities. This course curriculum is related, and it makes students industry-ready with excellent skills.
Other: I am interested in this course, and my dream is to pursue BCA course (computer applications). So, I have chosen it. In this course, we learn more computer coding languages and create websites on our own.
