Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.) - Batch of 2024

Affordable course with great placements and good infrastructure.
Placements: I was part of the BCA Shift II batch (2021-2024). Around 85% of students from our course were placed. The highest package offered was around 4.5 LPA, the lowest was 2.5 LPA, and the average stood at 3 LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and Accenture. Nearly 70% of students secured internships with companies like Cognizant, Amazon, and startup firms. Roles offered included software developer, data analyst, and IT support executive.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for BCA was quite good. We had access to fully air-conditioned computer labs, updated systems, Wi-Fi on campus, and a well-stocked library. The classrooms were clean and equipped with projectors. The hostel facilities were decent. Rooms were clean and food in the mess was average but hygienic. There was a health center on campus and basic sports facilities are available.
Faculty: The faculty was knowledgeable and supportive. Most professors had industry exposure or were Ph.D. holders. The curriculum was regularly updated to include current IT trends and technologies like cloud computing and data analytics, making it industry-relevant. Exams were moderately difficult, but manageable if you kept up with classes. The pass percentage was about 90%.
Other: I chose BCA because of my interest in programming and IT. The best thing about the course was the hands-on exposure to industry-relevant tools and the supportive faculty. I wish the college had more tie-ups with international institutions. Scholarships were available for deserving students, and the environment was very encouraging for personal growth.

Dissatisfied with the college timings from 1:00 AM - 5:30 PM and I would like to change it.
Placements: In our campus, companies are based on 14 LPA packages. Many of my college students are placed in companies like Accenture, Diolite, etc. They also provide internship options with stipend of Rs. 10,000 and it's useful will also getting the startup companies.
Infrastructure: Our campus remains clean throughout the day and labs are available with air conditioners. That was my favorite place where I will go to their and relax and peaceful do my project.
Other: I am interest in computer science and it makes me to choose this course. All languages of computer science are taught and this course is best ever and I love it.

Definitely the best women's college in Chennai.
Placements: I am a 2021 pass out from SMC. Our campus selection was done online. Nearly 90–95% of students who opted for placement got placed. I myself got placed at Infosys as an operations executive. There were people who wanted to go for PG degrees. We had many top companies like Infosys, CTS, TCS, Deloitte, Sutherland, and many more.
Infrastructure: In BCA, we had a separate block CC for the Computer Science department. We have two labs for UG and one for PG. We have one library for our department and separate lockers outside the lab for us to keep our belongings before going in. We had after-college hours, and we were allowed to use the lab before the college hours to complete our projects and all.
Faculty: The teachers are very friendly and talented; they teach us everything and help us a lot. They are not only teachers; they are also good mentors. The college allocates mentors for every student for 3 years to share their feelings, and we can feel free to contact them anytime.

I had a wonderful experience at our college with good faculty members and placement cell.
Placements: Our campus has a separate placement cell named CGC, i.e., career guidance cell. Through the CGC, training is given for aptitude, GD, face to face interview, etc. Students must score 70% in their academics which was the minimum requirement for recruitment. CTS, Wipro, L&T and Ramco Systems were the top companies that came for recruiting students.
Infrastructure: All the facilities were good, very useful and very friendly. Our college provides an internet connection in labs, and there is an internet cafe in the main library. A variety of books were available in our college's main library. For games at our college, we have credits for games, and also a variety of games and activities are conducted like yoga, aerobics, tennis, cricket, folk dance, NSS, NCC, etc.
Faculty: Faculty members were well-experienced in both curriculum and corporate experience. They shared and imparted a lot of important values that help us to succeed in life. They encourage students to think out of the box. Our faculty members shared their IT experience, which made us relate the concepts practically.

College has to improvise and let the students by themselves instead of pushing them with rules.
Placements: 1. 20% placement record. 2. The highest salary offered- 3.2 Lpa, the lowest -1-5 Lpa was offered. 3. Delloite, Infosys, CTS are the top recruiters. 4. Software engineer, tester, system support officer, etc. are the roles offered. 5% did internship in my course as it was not compulsory for everyone to attend internship.
Infrastructure: 1. The best facilities in my college is auditorium, Open air theatre, games ground, NCC activities, Labs and the large library. 2. Hostel was not up to the mark. Air conditioning option was not given to students. My hostel friends never preferred eating hostel food. Medical support was there and all other extra curricular activities were present.
Faculty: 1. Very helpful and knowledgeable professors. The teaching quality was good but can be improved. 2. Course is relevant but the outer world was so different as college taught only basics which has to be updated and the industry never asked anything from what we studied for the entire year.
Other: 1. For Software knowledge and practical experience I opted this course. 2. Upgraded syllabus and to teach to work on live projects has to be improved.

Placements only for skills, good infrastructure except for cc block, nice surroundings.
Placements: Only a few students actually opt for campus placements. Let’s assume out of 50 students, only 25 sign up for placements. Among them, around 15–20 are eligible for the company, and after all tests and interviews, a maximum of 5 get placed in the end. This is again solely based on the particular student’s skill. In Stella, skills matter the most. There is a career guidance cell on campus that provides placement details to students and offers training as well. My senior is placed in Verizon with a 4 LPA package. TCS, Accenture, Verizon, and Data and Solutions are some of the recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: In SMC, the Computer Science department is in the CC block. To be honest, it has the most outdated infrastructure compared to the other blocks. Chairs are comfortable, but classrooms lack natural lighting. The lab ACs don’t work, and computers often get stuck during practicals. These are my personal experiences regarding the classroom and lab. The main library is spacious and has a lot of books you can borrow. Hostels inside Stella are definitely expensive but are decent. Canteens are decent, and the food is hygienic. There is an infirmary room with three beds to rest on and a nurse. The student training programme is mandatory for all first-year students to complete.
Faculty: Teachers and professors are highly skilled and very knowledgeable. They help in understanding topics from the root, so you never really forget concepts. As for the curriculum being relevant, I’d say it’s debatable. Most of subjects are designed to help students understand the foundation, and while it may not make them entirely industry-ready, it does encourage them to explore and discover what they are truly passionate about. There are a lot of projects and assignments to complete, which definitely helps in getting them internship-ready at the very least.
Other: A few best things about my course are that it is manageable, the learning pace is steady, and I get time to focus on doing certificate courses in my free time. Students could learn better software ones that are currently in trend rather than the older ones. Events are many opportunities for students to participate, but OD’s shouldn’t be expected. Fests It depends on the principal. My current principal doesn’t encourage it much. It is a wonderful place to create memories, with lots of cats to play with. Scholarships are available for students who apply and are eligible.
