Diploma in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2025

Review of Government Polytechnic Pune.
Placements: Government Polytechnic Pune is one of the reputed Diploma colleges in Maharashtra. However, when it comes to placements in the Computer Engineering department, the institute does not provide direct placement opportunities. Most companies visiting the campus focus more on other departments like Mechanical, Civil, or Electronics. For Computer Engineering students, there is no structured campus placement support, so the majority of students prefer to pursue higher education (B.E. /B.Tech or degree programs) after completing their Diploma. Many students successfully get admission to good engineering colleges through lateral entry, which helps them build better career prospects.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure & Hostel Review for Government Polytechnic Pune: The college has a decent infrastructure with well-maintained classrooms, laboratories, and a library. Computer labs are equipped but not very advanced compared to those in private colleges. The campus is spacious and located in the heart of Pune, making it accessible. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls, but the seats are limited and allotted on a merit basis. The hostel provides basic amenities like a mess, study room, and security, though the facilities are simple and not luxurious. Many students also prefer private hostels or PGs nearby due to better comfort and availability.
Faculty: The faculty at Government Polytechnic Pune is experienced and supportive. Most teachers focus on building strong fundamentals and encourage students to continue higher studies after the Diploma. Teaching style is more theoretical than practical, but overall guidance is good. The curriculum is set by MSBTE (Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education), so it is industry-oriented but slightly outdated compared to the latest technologies in computer engineering. Students often need to learn extra skills through self-study or external courses. Exams are conducted by MSBTE in a structured manner. The evaluation is fair, and the internal assessment helps students stay consistent.
Other: Government Polytechnic Pune is a top Diploma college in Maharashtra.

This college is good for studying and skills building.
Placements: As a student at Government Polytechnic Pune (GPP), I can share that the placement experience here is generally positive, especially for core engineering branches. The college's dedicated training and placement cell actively collaborates with various industries to facilitate job opportunities for students.
Infrastructure: As a current student at Government Polytechnic Pune (GPP), I can share that the campus infrastructure is generally well-equipped and conducive to learning, though there are areas that could benefit from improvement. The hostel is very good for students.
Faculty: As a student at Government Polytechnic Pune (GPP), I feel the faculty members, curriculum, and examination system are strong points of the college, especially if we are serious about learning. This college is good for learning new skills and gaining experience of learning.

This college is best learning platform as teachers in our department teach very good.
Placements: The highest percentage was 94% and the lowest was 80%. The highest salary package offered was 2.5 LPA, and the lowest was Rs. 50,000. The average salary package offered was 1 LPA. Placements also depend upon your knowledge and what you learn from your course. Tata is the recruiting company in our college. 80% of students got internships..
Infrastructure: We have both electronic and computer labs. Also, there is a library but not in our department. It is in the main department. I don't have experience of the college hostel but my friends stay in the hostel. The infrastructure is good. College canteen is also good. There are not many medical facilities provided. Sports and games are held every year.
Faculty: Teaching quality is the best. But sometimes, they speed up to cover the syllabus. But teaching quality is best. All teachers are qualified MPSC. This course is good and will help you in industries. Exams are very competitive and are a little hard as your efforts matter. The pass marks are 40 marks in the semester exams for each subject.
Other: I chose this course because this course is a mix of all courses. In this course, you can learn about electronics, coding, and a few things about mechanical, and electrical. There are various extracurricular activities like sports, zonal matches, etc.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2023

Many reasons to choose GPP.
Placements: The college has good placements. The average starting package was 3 lakhs. Many reputed companies like Tata, TCS, L&T, etc. had recruited from our college. Almost 50% of students got internships from my course at Tata and other companies. The roles offered were Assistant Engineer, Helper, etc.
Infrastructure: The college is equipped with many advanced machines. The labs are fully working. In my time of practical, I have never faced any problems due to functional machines. The hostel is very clean in comparison, and the mess is also good. Timings are kept for the security of students.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful throughout the course. They are highly qualified. Even though sometimes they are strict, they help if we face any problems. The course is fully industry-ready and relevant. The semester exams are not too tough if we have studied. The pass percentage is nearly 80%, and the ones who fail can apply for a re-exam easily.
Other: I am very passionate about electrical things. I liked the practical more than the theory. It could be better if there were some more deep, understanding practicals. The favorite time on campus was when there were any fests or events. The campus is full of trees and greenery. I even got a scholarship with such low fees.

Solid Academics but Limited Campus Life and Activities
Placements: The placement and job opportunities at the college are somewhat limited. Out of a batch of 70 students, only around 10 students typically get internships through the college. The rest of the students are required to find their own internship opportunities. This makes it essential for students to actively network and search for internships independently if they want to gain practical experience. Internships are compulsory for all students as part of the curriculum, so while securing one is mandatory, the responsibility largely falls on the students themselves to ensure they find a good opportunity. As for campus placements, the average salary package offered is around 4.9 LPA. While this is a decent starting point, it's not very high compared to some other institutions. The placement process is available, but competition is fierce, and only a certain number of students are placed each year. For those who are not placed through campus recruitment, it's important to focus on enhancing employability skills, such as internships, certifications, networking, and personal projects, to increase job prospects after completing the course.
Infrastructure: The hostel accommodation is reasonably priced, with the annual fee being 1,100 for Open Category students and 550 for Reserved Category students. The rooms are fairly spacious, measuring 15 feet by 15 feet, and are equipped with basic amenities such as a mattress, bed, cupboard, and table. The accommodation is quite affordable, making it a good option for students on a budget. However, the hostel mess could be improved. The food quality is not very good, and while the mess fee is 2,000 per month, many students recommend eating outside for better options. The mess may not be the most suitable for those who prefer a variety of food or higher-quality meals. In terms of infrastructure, the hostel provides basic facilities, but there aren't many additional amenities like common areas or entertainment options. The hostel has a capacity to accommodate 540 boys and 180 girls per year, with room location based on merit. If you're interested in applying for a hostel room, the process typically involves submitting an application and waiting for a seat to be allocated based on your merit and availability.
Faculty: The faculty at the college are knowledgeable and bring strong academic expertise to the classroom. While they are highly qualified in their respective fields, I’ve found that they are not always very proactive in providing support or guidance unless you specifically ask. This means you sometimes have to insist or follow up to get the help or clarifications you need, but when they do provide input, it is generally insightful and valuable. The curriculum is well-structured and up-to-date, ensuring that students are learning relevant and modern concepts. For example, we are currently studying in-demand technologies like REST APIs and Node.js, which are highly applicable in the tech industry. The curriculum also balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, allowing students to develop both problem-solving skills and hands-on experience. However, the workload can sometimes feel overwhelming due to the volume of subjects covered and the depth of the material. As for exams, the assessment process includes both internal and external evaluation. Internal exams contribute to the overall grade and are usually based on assignments, projects, and periodic tests. While the exam system is generally fair, it can sometimes feel like the internal marks are influenced by personal rapport with faculty, which may not always be ideal. The external exams are conducted according to the university schedule and are designed to test the understanding of core concepts covered throughout the course.
Other: My batch consists of around 70 students, and we are pursuing a course designed to equip us with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in the tech industry. The course is well-structured, covering a wide range of topics, from fundamental concepts to modern technologies such as REST APIs, Node.js, and web development. One of the best things about this course is its relevance to current industry trends, which ensures that we are learning skills that are in high demand. The practical approach to learning, where students are encouraged to apply concepts through projects and assignments, is also a significant advantage. I chose this course because I have a strong interest in technology and software development. The course seemed like the perfect fit to help me gain the technical skills I need for a successful career in the tech industry. Additionally, the growing demand for developers and software engineers made this an ideal choice for my future. However, there are areas where the course could be improved. The pace can sometimes be overwhelming, with a heavy workload and a lot of subjects to cover in a short amount of time. It would be helpful if there were more focus on practical hands-on sessions, as this would allow us to gain more real-world experience. Additionally, more exposure to emerging technologies and opportunities for research or innovation could further enhance the learning experience. In terms of extracurricular activities, the college offers limited options. There is only one annual fest, and campus life beyond academics is quite subdued. There are no dedicated sports events or ongoing co-curricular activities. As a result, the campus feels relatively quiet and doesn’t offer much in terms of social engagement or recreation. The campus is well-connected, but the surrounding area lacks much in terms of entertainment or facilities beyond the academic environment. The scholarship opportunities are available, particularly for students from Reserved Categories, but the process can sometimes be a bit complicated. It is essential for students to apply on time, as failure to do so could result in having to pay higher fees. Overall, while the course provides a solid academic foundation and prepares us for the tech industry, there is a need for improvement in terms of extracurricular opportunities, practical learning experiences, and campus life to create a more holistic college experience.

College has diploma courses like E & TC, electrical, civil, mechanical, metallurgy, and computer.
Placements: Placement is average. Our half course goes in lockdown and other in college. Due to that, average placement occurs in college. Most of the students don't participate in it from our batch, meaning from 2nd shift, 4 students got placement. 2 in Tata Power and 2 in other companies.
Infrastructure: Good college, has 4 buildings for boys' hostel, but most boys stay outside PG or get flats on rent due to gate timings and hostel rules.
Faculty: Good, it is an autonomous college, and good teachers and other staff are friendly. Teachers are highly educated. Curriculum is similar to that of other autonomous colleges. Exams are conducted very strictly. College has a separate exam department for exam-related queries. Course is good, it has half-day practical and half-day lectures taken in college, each course has two shifts, 1st and 2nd.
Other: Good, has two entrances and an overall big campus.
