HIMT College: Best college in India for merchant navy career.
Placements: Almost 80 percent of my batchmates are placed, including me, which is 100 percent of those who do not have arrears. Various shipping companies like MOL, Damico, MOLTA, BW Maritime, Marshall, and Eastaway visit our campus round the year and provide placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: HIMT has the best hostel facilities; 4 people share a room with bunk beds, and we have a good bond for that reason. We have individual study tables and shelves for storing our personal items. Our classrooms were air-conditioned classrooms with smartboards used by faculty members.
Faculty: Our teachers were the best role models; we learned quite a lot from them. We had experienced chief engineers and captains who not only taught us the syllabus but also built our personalities and confidence. They ensured we were ship-ready by the end of 4 years. They knew ship life was not the cup of tea for all, so they carved us properly for the actual requirement.
Other: We have intercollege events in all the semesters and it was fun participating in all those events.

    HIMT college shaped my future.
Placements: We had several companies like MOLMI, Eastaway, MOLTA, BW Maritime, Marshall, Damico, and Dynacom Tankers come to college for our placements, as well as all the students who were all with these companies. The college also supported us in training for the interviews.
Infrastructure: We had well-equipped labs with the latest equipment for training and qualified professionals for training, so learning was very easy at HIMT. We also had virtual reality labs, which were top-notch. Classrooms were air conditioned and we had smart boards in classrooms for interactive sessions.
Faculty: Teachers were highly qualified, with seasoned chief engineers and master mariners. The course was articulated in such a way that we were ship-ready by the end of the course. Semester exams were conducted by IMU, and our faculty members discussed the previous year's question papers so that we had knowledge about the pattern of the paper.

Review of Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT).
Placements: The placement program on campus is good; we have companies like MOL Management India, MOL Tankers, EAST-AWAY X-Press Feeders Pvt Ltd, etc., coming in. To be honest, not everyone will get placed on campus, but management tries its best to get everyone placed in companies, even after passing out. Currently, 50% of our batch is placed, hoping to achieve 100% placement before graduating from college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. We have centralized air-conditioned classrooms with smart boards. The equipment in labs helps us experience the theoretical knowledge we acquire in classrooms. The taste and quality in the mess are good. The variety in the menu changes regularly, so we can enjoy different options and not the same food every time. The network signal of certain sims is weak sometimes, but for others, it's good.
Faculty: The faculty that teaches either have many years of experience in sea life or experience in teaching that subject. The class includes both theory and visual (video) explanations of a topic, which helps us understand the topic properly. The course curriculum is designed to make students understand existing, past, and upcoming technologies in the industry. The semester exams are not difficult if we pay attention in class.
Other: Teaching on this campus is challenging due to strict rules that everyone must follow. Despite the strict rules, the campus is good. Connectivity is decent - we have to travel 10-15 km to watch a movie or go to a fancy restaurant, but RTC bus availability is frequent. Wi-Fi installation is possible as we operate everything digitally. Other facilities like the gym, swimming pool, etc., are good. Fests are conducted, and we are allowed to participate in other colleges' fests too.

HIMT for upcoming M. Navy Aspirants.
Placements: To be honest, the college doesn't provide 100% placements but is based on the availability of companies coming up in campus every year and management is working on it. A cadet being all clear in academics without arrear is undoubtedly able to get placement as each one of them are given several chances to sit in company interviews. Several top reputed RPSL companies have been visiting presently (PIL, MOL, Goodwood etc.), recruiting cadets and I am one among them who got placed.
Infrastructure: Campus is well-equipped with Basic Skill Workshop, Auxiliary Machine Workshop, Electrical Lab, Computer Lab, Electronics & Instrumentation Lab, VR Lab, Ship In Campus where a replica of the original ship is fitted and many more to have the greatest hands on experience. Presently, classes are made Air Conditioned too. Though the condition of hostel rooms are not up to the mark as expected. However being a trainee cadet spending years managing the rooms will surely make you fit for your future sea life. Food: Mess food is neutral with menu being balanced between North & South Indian foods. Canteen is available too. Medical facilities: Medical facilities are taken care by the wardens and if condition is out of their hand, cadets have to seek medical care outside on their own money. Sports & Games: College provides all the necessary items for sports and games and it's also equipped with a gym for the cadets.
Faculty: HIMT has one among the best Marine faculty members including experienced Chief Engineers, Captains and 2nd Engineers, Chief Officers and Workshop faculty members. All are highly knowledgeable in their field of study and is always engaged helping cadets with academics. Except this, Non Marine faculty members are also good and play an important role in the starting years for a cadet’s progress.
Other: Campus Life is hard as it's not like a normal college, but a Training Institute. There are strict rules and regulations which one has to follow or else end up with punishment. Though at the end of the day it helps in making oneself industry ready!

It is the best college for Merchant Navy.
Placements: Almost all our seniors are getting placed in top companies like Goodwood, Torm, Aurus, etc. Seniors who were placed mentioned their salary to be in the range of 450$ per month as a starter. We go in as a trainee mechanical engineer after graduating and need to give exams to accelerate in our field, and the pay will increase with that. However, HIMT provides discounts and extra help to HIMT students to undergo training for the additional courses for appearing the exams.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is excellent. The college campus is spacious, green and beautiful. Classrooms are huge, with modern teaching aids. There is no Wi-Fi on campus. Food in the mess is very good on holidays. We have a huge playground, a basketball court, a shuttle court and a gym.
Faculty: Teachers here are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Most of them are captains and chief engineers who shared their experiences of their life in the ship, which helps us learn and prepare for the life ahead on board a ship. Wardens are strict so that we are disciplined all the time.
Other: I have chosen this course because my brother is in the Merchant Navy, and he told us about how adventurous life is. The college could provide Wi-Fi so that we can use it during our free time. We have events like Nautica, Technovation, which is very exciting.

    You get many opportunities here.
Placements: Most of my batchmates have been placed in campus interviews. Students who didn't get placed yet will get an opportunity from HIMT to attend for placements. Companies like Goodwood, Posh, Ocean Sparkle, etc., visited our college for placements and selected most of us.
Infrastructure: Classrooms were huge and spacious in our college. Labs and the huge SIP (ship in campus) were the best parts of our college. The food served in our college was good, and during occasions, it was the best. The library was good with great books, and there was also a medical room in our college. Our college had a basketball court, a volleyball court, a gym and a huge ground to play football.
Faculty: Teachers here were great, and the principal of our college was extremely approachable. It was an excellent experience for me to be appointed in the student committee, which helped us to gain self-confidence, which was helpful during the interviews. Our college follows the syllabus of the Indian Maritime University syllabus, but the teachers always strive to make us learn more than the required course curriculum.
Other: The best things about our course were the way it was taught and the environment in which it was taught. I wish that our course should also focus more on international standards like UK courses, etc., to set a benchmark.
