Review of Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training.
Placements: Right now, 20% of my batchmates are placed, and others still have 1 year left while companies are approaching. The package varies from $550–$1,000 per month. Top recruiting companies are MOL, Zodiac Maritime, Synergy, and Sanmar. All cadets are placed in the same role – Deck Cadets.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are all air-conditioned. There are specific labs for every department. These include seamanship, engineering, welding, computer, electronics, electrical, and a virtual reality lab. All labs are maintained in proper condition. Specific instructors are appointed for separate labs. We have a turf, basketball court, badminton court, pickleball court, volleyball court, and gym. All are well maintained and can be properly accessed.
Faculty: All teachers are helpful in academics as well as in preparing for interviews. They are all qualified to teach. The knowledge they provide is very good to learn from. The course is designed in a nice way so that we learn everything required in these 3 years. Regarding semester exams, there is nothing to worry about because we have enough time and resources to learn. The passing percentage is 50%. Faculty members are sailors who quit sailing and have joined the teaching profession. The knowledge of faculty members is quite high. We can learn a lot from them.

In short, the college is for training competent and disciplined seafarers.
Placements: The college provides a golden opportunity to a good number of cadets at the end of the 2 years by giving them opportunity in MOL. After that, many top-notch companies offer placements such as Zodiac, Molta, Ozelar, Onesea, etc. Now many new companies are opening doors for HIMT in the upcoming days.
Infrastructure: The college has very unique infrastructure compared to other colleges. It includes a sports complex for basketball and football, as well as pickleball, two swimming pools, and, for educational purposes, a double-bottom tank for training cadets, and all this infrastructure has maintenance as per schedule.
Faculty: The faculty here is world-class. They know where to guide the students, and they are the reason I cracked the placements in one shot. The number of captains and chief engineer training cadets are far more than any other institutions on the basis of training and also cadets have mock interviews from seniors for better guidance.
Other: I chose the course for financial stability and I wanted a job that looks a bit adventurous, so why not the Merchant Navy. As far as I know, the B.Sc. and B.Tech batch consists of 80 cadets and DNS around 120, and other batches are ongoing which makes it around 900 cadets on campus. Also, the college conducts regular events and extracurricular activities to make students engage and get to know each other.

Great college for aspiring seafarers with excellent placement opportunities.
Placements: I got a placement in MOLMI. Top recruiting companies are MOL, BSM, M.Sc. Synergy, BW, and many more. The course offers a role as an engine cadet. For B.Sc., salary starts from 550 USD per month and goes up to 18000 USD per month. Every year, HIMT gives 100 percent of placements to shipping companies.
Infrastructure: We have various labs like the ship-in-campus where we learn practically about starting the main engine, auxiliary engine, and paralleling of generators, etc. Classu0131 AC rooms, and we have a library. In my hostel, it is well cleaned with good ventilation, individual bathrooms, and theatre facilities. Cooling drinking water is also provided. In the college, the menu changes every week. Nutritious food is provided. 24/7 medical facilities are available. Sports like cricket, football, basketball, pickleball, and gym facilities are well-maintained.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and qualified as well, and they are also knowledgeable. It makes us quite p. the job. Exams are moderate, but the teachers and faculty of HMT make every effort for the students, and they make us prepare well. The faculty here makes you feel at home, with discipline added.
Other: I chose this course because I want to join the merchant navy. The course is 100 percent perfect. We have a number of events in every semester, and we enjoy all the festivals like Diwali, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, and all.

Placements: I am honored to represent HIMT and proudly say that I have been placed at MOLMI Shipping in my fourth semester through campus placement. I am eternally grateful to our CEO, Sanjeev S Vakil sir, Principal Subramanian Anand sir, and all other faculty members who helped me in this process, and I will always be proud to represent HIMT throughout my life.
Infrastructure: We have all the required infrastructure for an MIT that includes SIC, mechanical labs, steering simulators, AMW, AC classrooms, a VR and AR lab with great simulations. The hostel facilities are also great. The food that is provided is very healthy and nutritious and will help to keep your body fit.
Faculty: Our faculty members are so helpful and supportive throughout our journey academically and in extracurricular activities. The exams are not that tough to pass and not that hard to clear. The notes provided by the captains and faculty members are the best ones to study and pass the exam.
Other: I am in the 13th Batch of B.Sc. Nautical Science at HIMT, which commenced on 01/08/2024 and will end on 31/07/2027.

Excellent Maritime Institute in India.
Placements: In my batch, 33% of students are placed. Companies such as PIL, BSM, and WAH KWANG visited. Many more companies are expected to come for future placements. The packages offered to cadets depend on the companies, but the salaries are as per the standard market. Overall, HMIT provides the best learning experience for future growth.
Infrastructure: I really like the infrastructure in the college. It provides everything needed for ETO. Classrooms are air-conditioned and comfortable. The college has practical labs. They provide good hands-on experience and help me understand the subjects well. There is a ship-in-campus facility and a library. The campus always remains neat and clean. The accommodation cabins are good. The food in the galley is decent. Medical support is available whenever required.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. Sharing their knowledge helps me strengthen my understanding of each subject. This helps me further grow my career. They follow strict adherence to international safety standards and practical, hands-on mechanical know-how. The caliber of the instructors plays a direct role in cadets' placement and exam success.

Best for seafaring like us.
Placements: A good number of students got placement opportunities through campus recruitment and campus interviews. The placement support is helpful, especially for students looking to start their career at sea. The salary package is not confirmed yet but depends upon the vessel and the company.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure, with well-equipped classrooms, labs, and the facilities required for pre-sea training. The labs provide good hands-on experience which is suitable for learning. The hostel facilities and rooms are also satisfactory for us.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified, knowledgeable, and supportive. They explain concepts clearly and are willing to help students clear their doubts. The teaching is a good combination of theoretical knowledge, practical knowledge, and practical training which is useful for the maritime industry.
Other: I chose this course to pursue my dream of becoming an ETO and explore the sea life. Events should happen a bit more.

The eligibility requirements and admission process of both IMU Kolkata and HIMT Chennai are almost the same. The basic requirement that candidates must fulfil is that applicants must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with an aggregate of 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English in Class 1
