2. Q:   How can I get selected in IIM Lucknow?

A:

The application process for IIM Lucknow PGP courses takes place via CAT. Therefore, candidates need to visit the official website of CAT to register themselves. For other courses, however, the application process takes place via the official website of IIM Lucknow. After the successful submission of the application form, students need to appear for the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview (WAT-PI) rounds. Q:   Can an average student get into an IIM?

A:

The answer to this question of whether an average student can get into IIM can be both yes and no depending on the definition of an average student.

  • Based on Academics (Class 10/ Class 12/ Graduation): While a student with average scores in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation with a good CAT score certainly has good chances of getting a call from IIM-A, chances are less for someone with an average CAT score.
  • Based on student category (General or Reserved): While it is tough for a General category average student to grab a seat at IIM due to high score requirements, a reserved category student can get admission being at average scores as well.
  • Based on past work experience, diversity and other factors: Gender and academic diversity is also a factor on which students are shortlisted at IIM. IIMs judge the past academic category based on the degree obtained by the students before MBA and then a weightage is allotted based on that. For Engineers, the percentage for scoring the highest marks is higher as compared with other streams
  • Performance in selection rounds: Once you make it to the final selection rounds, i.e., AWT/PI process, it can be considered a fresh start. At this stage, students can forget their past average-ness but definitely require good grasp over the past subjects as academics-related questions are asked in the interview.

Based on the above factors, it can be considered that while getting into top Management institutes, such as IIM is extremely tough, the past performance, CAT performance, student category and a lot of factors can be the reasons for a student to receive that final call.

Q:   How can I prepare for admission at IIM Lucknow?

A:

CAT is a highly competitive exam which is a must-have for admission to other top Management colleges and IIMs. A well-planned strategy along with a correct approach is essential for admission to MBA courses in India, especially in the top MBA colleges in India. A preparation strategy that will help you ace the CAT exam for admission to IIM Lucknow is as follows:

Overall Satisfied with the experience at IIM Lucknow.
Placements: All students at the campus get placed. The average package at IIM Lucknow is about 28 LPA, and the average stipend for the internship period is 1.6 LPA per month. Almost half of the batch gets PPOs from their interns. Roles are offered in all domains, including Finance, Operations, Consulting, and HR.
Infrastructure: Hostel accommodation is mandatory as it is a residential program. The quality of hostel rooms is also good. Everyone is allocated a single, separate room. There are no restrictions or curfew timings as such on campus. Wi-Fi is available on campus, and meals served at the mess are okay, better than in other colleges.
Faculty: The curriculum and teachers are above average. Some subjects are very practical and provide insights into the real-world functioning of companies, while others are dead boring, such as Legal Studies. All in all, it's a fun experience learning from such learned professors.

Do MBA on your own risk .
Placements: Placements ongoing, the highest 1.5 crores, the lowest 10.5 LPA till now, TAS, Meesho, BCG, Mackinsey, Kerney, Accenture etc. All management related roles like consulting, product management, sales and marketing head, general management and operations role, etc. ( all MBA colleges write false numbers in their annual placement report, consider if they say 33 LPA average, then consider it 20 LPA).
Infrastructure: Indoor sports, washing machines but old, football ground, cricket ground, library which is really good, swimming pool, gym, state, computer centre, green nature trails Hostels are decent, clean but very old washrooms, total 18 hostels, except 17,18 hostel others are very old but clean enough for use.
Faculty: I felt courses are old and not so relevant, some teachers are just free and not teaching properly, projects are just chat gpt practice these days and students are not even attentive in classes, but some are really good and puts a lot of efforts to teach you properly.

The lowest salary package offered 16 LPA. Semester exams are moderate. Students can pass the exam easily if they study throughout the year. Almost 95% of students pass the exams.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in accounts. The food served in the mess should be improved. The canteen food charges should be reduced.

Our college has good facilities and faculty members.
Placements: IIM has a very good and active placement cell. Placements start in the pre-final semester. Many top companies, such as Maruti Suzuki, Airport Authority of India, Unschool, Duraroof, etc., come here for placements. The average salary package ranges from 7 LPA to 8 LPA. Approximately 70% of students get placed during the placement process. After getting the degree, I also hope to work for one of the reputed companies in India.
Infrastructure: There were 3 types of hostels. They were old dorms, new dorms, and married student hostels. Two mess halls served food to the whole IIMA community. In terms of quality, I would rate it as average, considering the type of food served. It was mandatory to stay in hostels for PGP students.
Faculty: Most faculty members have Ph.D.s. They graduated from IIMS. We have faculty members from foreign universities. They teach for short durations. A few of them teach for a period of 3 months. We have 3 terms each year. Exams are more focused on the practical mind of a student than on basic technical things.
Other: I chose MBA to pursue a career in finance.
