IIT Mandi offers three-year PhD courses in a full-time mode. The doctoral-level courses are offered in multiple specialisations by different schools of IIT Mandi. Admission to the courses is through a GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/Written Test followed by a personal interview round.
The institute a minimum of three year PhD full-time as well as part-time courses in 13 specialisations and four schools. Admission to PhD is offered in regular full-time with a fellowship from the institute, part-time sponsored government/ semi-government/National Research Lab /industry/ public sector/ reputed private sector, part-time PhD (faculty employed in an academic institute at J&K/ Himachal Pradesh) and part-time PhD (staff employed in IIT Mandi). IIT Mandi BTech registrations start with the release of JEE Main application forms. The registrations for JEE session one goes on from Oct till Nov, a year prior to the admission session. While the registrations for session two are carried out in February. Candidates who pass JEE Mains need to apply

Candidates taking admission in a BTech course of IIT Mandi need to pay a tuition fee of INR 8.1 lakh. The total fee include other components as well, such as hostel fee of INR 2.46 lakh.
