IIT Mandi MTech Highlights & Eligibility 2024
IIT Mandi offers two-year MTech courses in nearly 10 specialisations. The course is divided into four semesters. Some of the popular MTech specialisations offered are Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, VLSI, Structural Engineering, etc. Admission to MTech at IIT Mandi is through GATE followed by COAP counselling. The institute also offers an HTRA scholarship of INR 12,400 to MTech students. Aspirants meeting the eligibility conditions can apply for the HTRA scholarship. For admission to IIT Mandi MTech, you need Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or MSc or MCA with at least 60% aggregate in the relevant discipline from a recognised university. In addition, applicants with BE/ AMIE exam scores can also apply.
Aspirants with a valid bachelor’s degree in the relevant specialisation are eligible to apply for the PG course. Admission to M.Tech at IIT Mandi is based on merit in GATE followed by COAP counselling. Candidates with a score equal to more than the cutoff become eligible to participate in the counselling round. In addition, IIT graduates with an 8.0 CGPA or above are exempted from the GATE score requirement and can apply directly.
The total seats available across varied courses (excluding MA, PhD, and Certificate) sums up to nearly 666. Seat allotment for each course is carried out in accordance with the seat intake. Moreover, statutory and legally mandated reservations will be followed as per Government of India orders from time to time.
IIT Mandi BTech tuition fee costs around INR 8.1 L. This fee is exclusive of other components such as examination fee, application fee, hostel fee, security deposit, etc. This fee is taken from the official website. It is subject to change.

As per the latest report, 192 recruiters visited IIT Mandi in 2024 and placed 84% of the BTech Class 2024 in new-age job roles. The average package offered to BTech CSE students during IIT Mandi placements in 2024 stood at INR 26.55 LPA. Further, the overall median package offered to BTech students during IIT Mandi placements in 2024 stood at INR 21 LPA.
Earlier, the Phase 1 of IIT Mandi placements 2023 concluded with 249 job offers.
