IIT Mandi MSc Eligibility & Highlights 2026

IIT Mandi offers a two-year MSc course in a full-time mode. This course is divided into four semesters. The PG course is available in three specialisations, including Physics, Chemistry, and Applied Mathematics. Admission to MSc courses at IIT Mandi is through IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling.

n order to take admission to MSc courses, aspirants must meet the eligibility requirements. Admission to the programme is only through IIT JAM and there is no other provision for admission. Find below the details related to the selection criteria and seat intake and fee:

Placements: All the IITs are widely known for giving the best placements. Every year, Students of M.Sc. In the applied mathematics at IIT Mandi, one gets an impressive average salary package of 10 LPA. Students work as data scientists, quantitative analysts, statisticians, financial analysts, and software developers in various places, such as finance and IT sectors, government institutes, etc.

Infrastructure: We all know that the infrastructure and facilities of any IIT college are top-class. IIT Mandi is no exception. The entire campus of IIT Mandi is divided into two parts - the North Campus and the South Campus. There are around 10 hostels in IIT Mandi. Each room has a bed, study desk, chair, wardrobe, and attached bathroom.

Faculty: As the " Indian Institute of Technology " is a highly reputed institution in India, there is no need to talk about the faculty members of this institution separately. All the professors of IIT Mandi have a minimum of 10 years post-Ph.D. experience. M.Sc. In applied mathematics, there is a programme of two years. Every year, around 95% of students easily pass the examination.

Campus is very beautiful. Everything is perfect.

Placements: Most of the students pursue for higher studies and very less no. Of students go for the placement but the got the placement what ever they want. In my course average package is 7-8 Lacs. This is what I know, dontknow anything more so please stop asking me .

Infrastructure: All the facilities are available in the college campus. Hostels labs and all the area has Wi-Fi access. Library is open upto 12o clock at night. Classrooms are very good and comfortable. Hostels are very good. Almost everything is available in the hostels .

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable and they are teaching properly. Yes they are making the students industry ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult, not very much easy or not very much difficult. But almost every student pass the exam.

Other: I am interested in this course and I like doing practicals in Chemistry. I think the way is teaching this subject can be changed so that the proper interest can be developed in many students. The campus life is like a heaven. This is the one of the most beautiful campus in the India.

It has helpful and research-oriented faculty members and beautiful campus.

Placements: Every student doesn't go for placements. Some students get selected for foreign Ph.D. positions. Some students go for academics and almost all students get placements either on-campus or off-campus. Some academic internships from Doubtnut and Toppr are also available. Coaching industry always welcome students from M.Sc. Chemistry branch for NEET/JEE/JAM preparation.

Infrastructure: Lab facility at AMRC, IIT Mandi is nice. We can use Wi-Fi for 24 hours for educational purposes. We can't operate Insta or WhatsApp with this Wi-Fi. The food facility and medical facilities are very good. Sports facility is also very good. Ambulance is also available 24 hours.

Faculty: Teachers in our college are very well qualified and very supportive. Exams are moderate to tough and vary with teachers. The course is very good. The pass percentage is 95-100%. Design practicum starts from the first semester and it helps for the M.Sc. project. You feel like a researcher in the M.Sc. course. Ph.D. guides are also very helpful.

Other: The campus of IIT Mandi is so beautiful. M.Sc. Chemistry branch is the best for research among many IITs. The most important thing is the design practicum, which improves every student for research purposes from the first semester.

Dissatisfied because of placements and lack of faculty members for pure mathematics courses.

Placements: The percentage of students who got placed is not good but is increasing year by year. This year only two students have got placement. The highest salary package is 12 LPA and 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Byju's, Unacademy and YUM! Digital and Technology. And also the number of students who got internships is less.

Infrastructure: My semester is going in online mode so we are not into the college, but our seniors always tell me that the facilities which IIT Mandi provides to students are very good and Wi-Fi speed is also high. The food served in the mess is very healthy and also tasty. The library is also so good. Overall, the infrastructure of IIT Mandi is good.

Faculty: The number of faculty members is less in my department. Most of the teachers of my department (Applied Mathematics) are very friendly and very helpful. They are always helpful and use different ways to teach students in a very good manner. Also, the level of exams is relevant to the course. Mostly the students got at least passing marks and few got very good marks.

It is a good college if you are good, but the kind of opportunities lacks behind.

Placements: Placements in this course are very limited. Most of the placements of the companies are grabbed by B.Tech students so it becomes difficult to compete with them in programming skills which they are studying from starting.

Infrastructure: We haven't been to the campus till now. But we have seen the campus in videos and some events. It is good naturally but I think there should be more focus on increasing man-made infrastructure for students.

Faculty: Exam pattern is not that helpful for students. Because the kind of exam they take on their website is not students friendly and resisting students to do some other activities in which they are interested in.

Other: Campus life here is good because of the natural beauty.

It is a very good college and teachers are very helpful.

Placements: Percentage of students who got placed in last two years is good and is increasing year by year. The highest and the lowest salary packages are note fixed but averagely the highest salary package offered is nearly 12 LPA to 14 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is between 5 LPA to 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Byju's and Unacedmy the percentage of students got internship from the course is above 80%.

Infrastructure: Due to corona, we are not able to the college, but our seniors always tell me that the facilities which IIT Mandi provides to students are very good and Wi-Fi speed is also high. The food served in the mess is very healthy and they provide 7 different meals for 7 different days.

Faculty: Faculty members in our course are very friendly and very helpful. They are always helpful and use different ways to teach students in very good manner. Their knowledge level is at the next level. Semester exams are difficult but teachers make it easy for every student.
