IIT Tirupati PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2024
MS (Research) and PhD admissions are made under regular full-time and external category. PhD is offered in nine specialisations whereas, MS (Research) is offered in five specialisations. The selection of the candidates to both the courses is based on a written test or interview conducted by the institute. The full-time foreign PhD research scholars are eligible for financial assistantship of INR 25,000 per month for the first two years and INR 28000 per month for next three years of registration. Students trying to take admission in IIT Tirupati based on GATE score are likely applying for M.Tech programme. IIT Tirupati accepts applications for both GATE qualified and IIT graduates. JEE Advanced 2026 result will be out in June 2026.
Candidates can check and download the JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard under their respective login on jeeadv. ac. in. To Download JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard, candidates have to use 7-digit roll number, date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format, and the 10-digit phone number that they used while registering for JEE (Advanced).
Also, category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates will be available through the JEE Advanced 2026 online portal after the results are declared. Text messages will also be sent to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers.
Only those candidates who will secure minimum marks in JEE Advanced 2026, as prescribed by the IITs will be included in the AIR list for JoSAA counselling and IIT admissions. Allotment of seats will be solely based on the category-wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced 2026.
To get into IIT Tirupati for the MSc course, students have to first attempt the IIT JAM entrance examination, followed by its counselling process. Only those students who appear for the counselling process are considered eligible for admission.
The IIT Tirupati cutoff 2026 has been released for round 1 for various All India categories. The cutoff is released in the form of opening and closing ranks.

IIT Tirupati admissions are open. Candidates must fulfill eligibility and selection criteria to get into a course. Check below the steps to get a seat in institute:
- The institute offers admission to BTech based on JEE Advanced scores. IIT JAM and GATE scores are considered for MSc and MTech courses, respectively. JoSAA and JOAP counsellings are conducted for seat allotment to BTech and MSc courses, respectively.
- After application, the institute considers institute-level tests and merit scores of students for MS, MPP and PhD admission.
- Admission to PhD is also based on other national-level exam scores/ institute-level entrance and interview.
- A merit list is released by the institute for announcing the names of the candidates shortlisted for MPP, M.Tech and PhD courses followed by a counselling round. Candidates need to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.
