IMS BHU MD Courses & Fees 2026

IMS-BHU is definetly better as compared to Heritage Institue of Medical Science in MD course as well as in all other coursesbecause :-

• IMS BHU is ranked 8th in the Medical Category and 18th in the Dental Category by NIRF Ranking 2023. 
• The institute is recognised and approved by the Medical Council of India.
• IMS-BHU is a government college and HIM is a private college.
• Heritage Institue of Medical Science is a very much expensive college.

The Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the six institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. There are a very limited number of seats available for MD at IMS BHU. Only a total of 168 seats are available for MD and MS programs, and in which 5 seats are reserved, for international students. It comprises three faculties: the Faculty of Medicine, Dental Sciences, and Ayurveda. 

Candidates who get selected to pursue a BSc in Nursing at the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU must confirm their admission by submitting the applicable fees. The total tuition fee for a BSc at IMS BHU is INR 900. Furthermore, selected candidates must pay a one-time fee of INR 800 at admission. This includes Enrolment Fee, Admission Fee, I-Card and Passbook Fee, College Caution Money, and Degree Charges. The mentioned fee is sourced from the official website of the college/sanctioning body.  Institute of Medical Sciences BHU accepts admission based on national entrance exams. The institute accepts national entrance exams such as NEET, CUET, and others. IMS BHU admission requires a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12  (PCB). Furthermore, they must qualify NEET UG for their category that is, OBC/ General/ EWS.

The application forms for IMS BHU admission are released at different times depending on the program. Here are the relevant dates for each program:

• BHU MBBS/BDS 2023: The application form is already released and NEET-qualified candidates can fill it out till July 25
• BHU MBA Admission 2023: The application form was released on October 03, 2022
• BHU B.V.Sc Admissions: The last date to apply is August 18, 2023
• BHU Fellowship 2023: The application form needs to be submitted in the Office of the Director, IMS, BHU, Varanasi - 221005 by July 08, 2023
• BHU Senior Resident: The application form is currently invited for the vacant post of Senior Resident (Not Linked with Course) in the Faculty of Medicine, Ayurveda and Dental Sciences, IMS, BHU

Institute of Medical Sciences BHU does not offer direct admission. IMS BHU primarily relies on national-level entrance exams like NEET-UG for undergraduate programs (like MBBS and BSc Nursing) and NEET-PG, NEET-SS, and NEET-MDS for postgraduate and super-specialty courses. After qualifying the relevant entrance exam, candidates must participate in the counseling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee.

IMS BHU is ranked 8th in the Medical Category and 18th in the Dental Category.Institue of Medical Science- BHU is a public university operated under Banaras Hindu University.The MBBS fee is approximately INR30000 (tution fee)+hostel fee seperately. The cutoff for the college was INR 32000.The fee for first year student is INR 13410 and from second onward it is INR 11610. The total fee for the course is INR 164000.

Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU BSc admission is subject to clearing the NEET UG cut-off prescribed for the particular admission year. The cut-off also varies depending on the caste/reservation category of the applicants. Based on the previous year's cut-off,  the NEET UG rank at which BSc admission was granted to General category candidates is around 1.06 Lacs (for the last round). In 2023, the closing rank for the General category candidates was 27,931.

The reservation policy for NEET counselling is as per the landmark judgement passed by the Supreme Court of India in 2021, here would be 27 per cent OBC quota in NEET (Non-Creamy Layer) and 10 per cent NEET reservation for EWS in 15 per cent Under Graduate (UG) All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS) (contributed by the State/UTs to the Central Pool). Candidates have to pay both refundable and non refundable fees for UP NEET 2025 counselling registration. The non refundable fees for UP NEET 2025 counselling is INR 2,000.
