B.Tech. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2020
4.8
Reality of my college life during 2016-2020.
Placements: 90% Students were placed in each class in every department. Salary Package starts from Rs. 5000 to 30000 for on-campus placements for Biotechnology. VWR is the top company as it provides Rs. 30,000 for Biotechnology. Many students got internship in Biotechnology Biocon, etc. Quality Analyst, Junior Associate, etc. are the positions offered after Undergraduate in core companies.
Infrastructure: My college management provides e-library access to all students, and it also has many books and journals for all departments. Biotechnology labs have given Wi-Fi access to both students and staff. Classrooms are neat, and benches are in good condition. Hostels are hygienic and clean. Hostel foods were good to eat. Chicken briyani in the hostel was tasty and a favorite of most hostellers and dayschoolers. During parent-teacher meetings, in girls and boys hostels, foods were provided to both students and parents and also to every teaching and non-teaching staff.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful during my college days; they allowed me to take rest on my menstrual period. Their teaching is also good. Course curriculum is relevant to examination questions. But it does not make students industry-ready, as there are not such activities to enhance project mindset and very few industrial visits for real-time explanation. As marks are evaluated by Anna University during my college days, the question paper level differs in each exam and semester. The pass percentage is above 70% in my class.
Other: In this course I have learnt about entrepreneurship and how to start a business, then I have learnt about many technologies used in the biofield. Events in my college are very low; only symposium and conference programs are conducted in each department separately. Inter-college festivals are not happening inside campus. Scholarships for students were provided by the state government for first-graders. Extracurricular activity periods are there, but it was taken by staff to complete the project. Hence, hostellers only participated in every activity during college days.

Review of Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: More than 90% of students are placed every year. Placements are very good. Most students are placed in IT companies. ZIFO is one of the top companies in the field of biotechnology that visits our campus. The average salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: Every classroom has a ventilation system. Every class has an LCD monitor. Wi-Fi is available in both the college and the hostel. There is a central library which gives access to every student. The quality of food served in the mess can be improved slightly. Canteen food is better.
Faculty: Biotechnology is a good career to pursue. If you are a researcher, you will enjoy it. Staff members help students by clearing their doubts. They insist more on referring to books. The course can still be improved to make students industry-ready.

The college has very good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: There are no campus interviews, and 10% of the students were placed from our batch. The highest salary offered is Rs. 20,000 per month, the average salary offered is Rs. 12,000 and the lowest salary offered is Rs. 8,000 per month. There are no top recruiting companies. Only 5% of the students got an internship. Top roles are not, and students are offered with apprentice and trainees roles.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very poor, and there is a network problem. We didn't get anywhere on the campus. Labs are good, but there is no adequate equipment. We can't use every equipment. The canteen food is very poor, expensive and not hygiene. The library is good, and medical facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers here need more knowledge. Most of them come, eat and go to their home. Students need more materials related to the subjects. PPT and videos related in subjects are improved.
Other: Extracurricular activities and events are conducted in our college, and they also offer scholarships.

Satisfied with the faculty members.
Placements: 1.70% students are placed. Others are pursuing higher education. 2. The highest salary-10 L/A, the lowest salary-1.8 L/A, average-3 L/A is provided. 3. Biocon and zifo are the leading companies. 4. Quality control is the top role offered. 5. 10LPA, 1.8 LPA, 3 LPA are the packages provided to our dept. 6. 50% students got internship opportunities.
Infrastructure: 1. Our college is a free Wi-Fi campus. Its infrastructure is something good. It is well located and it has well ventilation facilities. The Biotech department is the best department in this college. The labs are pretty good. The classrooms are well furnished. The library facilities are good. 2. The hostel facilities need to be improved. The food quality is okay. Canteen is pretty good. Medical facilities are enough. Both indoor and outdoor stadium is available.
Faculty: 1. The teachers are well qualified. Each of them is strong in their own subject. Moreover they are doctorates. They also handle the instruments very well. They also ready us for competitive exams. They help us when we need. Their teaching quality is very extraordinary. Every staff in the department has unique talent.

Good lab facilities but it needs to improve in placements
Placements: The college needs to improve a lot in terms of placements. Off-campus opportunities are there but the number of companies visiting the college is relatively low. The average package offered was 4.75 LPA. The roles offered to the students vary from developer to assistant engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. The college has state of the art lab facilities, especially for biotechnology and CSE departments. The canteen is something you can ignore in the college. The hostel is ordinary and the hostel rooms are on a triple-sharing basis.
Faculty: The college follows the semester pattern but the pattern is not flexible. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and hence, the same curriculum is followed. Industry exposure of the college is not that good and the course curriculum can be improved.

KCET a place to blossom for students who need a push and lot of guidance.
Placements: Placements percentage is very low but way above average in that region. The placement cell works continuously to improve this stat. Training and development programmes are given to students in regular intervals. Lots of IT and manufacturing companies come for placements.
Infrastructure: The college is a developing organisation. It is continuously growing. The lab facilities which I have used were better than all the other colleges which were providing the same course. Each floor in the college block has its own separate IT facility. The entire campus is under surveillance 24*7 with more than 50 cameras.
Faculty: Well organised course curriculum with a lot of electives. Most of the faculty members were with a lot of work experience in both industry and educational institutes and most of them were either holding a doctoral degree or were pursuing one. Each student was assigned to his or her own mentor for all the four years in college, this helped us to get more personal with the professors and also get problems solved easily.
Other: The culture of the organisation is bit strict. A very safe place for girls to start their professional career. The organisation is pretty new but always in a continuous growing and developing phase. The management takes good care of the students and the environment they are put in.

Friendly faculty members, good practical exposure .
Placements: Faculty members made huge effort to get good placement for every students from various core industries and other IT and non core non IT sectors too. As far as I know the highest package is around 7- 9 LPA. I am aware that HCL, Infosys, Zifo, tata are some of our recruiters.
Infrastructure: Faculty members encourage practical exposure in laboratories. All classrooms are provided with lcd screens. All departments have a SMART class room. Canteen faculty members are limited. We have a good indoor stadium for badminton and separate courts for other sports as well.
Faculty: Internal examinations are designed to test the understanding and several changes were made to the exam pattern. Internal making includes several other marks alloted for extra and co curriculum activities. Like conference participation, sport achievements, club activities involvement, other competition winning. We also have 5 marks alloted for aptitude exam conducted every semester. These steps helps us get exposure beyond academics.
Other: Fest are limited .
