KSRM Organises a Talk on ‘Gender Empowerment for Better Nutrition: Walking Through a Food System Approach’

December 30, 2022: Dr. Shubh Swain, associate director for TARINA and a gender and nutrition specialist at Cornell University's Tata Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition (TCI), delivered the discussion. The International Institute for Population Sciences in Mumbai awarded him a PhD in demography. He works on developing program- and policy-informing evidence surrounding gender, nutrition, food, and agriculture. He has worked extensively on gender, nutrition, and public health in India and Africa.

Dr. Shubh began by discussing TCI and its significant function, particularly for women and raising their status. He discussed the three manifestations of malnutrition and its effects on the Global South. Dr. Shubh went into detail on the key components of the food system, including production, availability to a variety of foods, dietary habits, and the status of women in each. He emphasised how women in agriculture are unable to have an identity, rights, or access to technology. The food systems and agricultural interventions can also promote women's empowerment, which is important in all of this.

Perfect for a successful future.

Placements: 100 percent of students got placed in our previous batch. The highest package is about 14 LPA, and the lowest is 6 LPA. According to my knowledge, development sectors, CSR, and finance companies are most common. All the students got internships in our course and in different sectors. The top role offered is rural manager.
