NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law Convocation 2025: BCI Chairman Outlines Four Stages of Litigation for Young Lawyers

August 18, 2025: Urging aspiring lawyers to serve society and help build a better nation, Member of Parliament and Bar Council of India Chairman, Hon’ble Shri Manan Kumar Mishra, called upon them to prioritise pro bono service over monetary gains. The senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India, speaking as Chief Guest at the Convocation Ceremony of SVKM’s NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, said that those entering the litigation field without any godfather are 'first-generation warriors' who must pass through multiple stages of hard work and perseverance before they start earning in lakhs for just a few minutes of arguing in court.

“Those who enter litigation with no godfather will have to go through four stages. Most get disheartened in the first stage and look for alternative careers. But a determined few move to the second stage, here they get a senior’s office, some work, a few clients, but still no money. The third stage is when your dedication is recognised and some money starts to come in. The fourth and final stage is the most rewarding, when you have your own juniors doing research, preparing briefs, drafts, and citations. You walk into court, argue for just a few minutes, and get paid in lakhs,” Mishra said.

The convocation saw degrees conferred upon students from the BA LL.B. (Hons.), BBA LL.B. (Hons.), and Master of Laws (LL.M.) programmes, with awards presented to high performers, all-round achievers, faculty, and staff. Dean Dr. Durgambini Patel presented the annual report and congratulated the graduating batch. “Today signifies a momentous occasion when we continue to set new benchmarks. We celebrate our students for crossing a huge milestone and our teachers for passing on the legacy of shaping excellent legal minds. The 2025 batch exemplifies resilience, excellence, and ambition,” she said. “Remember, students, you are not just graduates, you are the torchbearers of justice, innovation, and leadership,” she added. The ceremony concluded with the Graduate Oath and a Sustainability Oath, highlighting the school’s commitment to ethical and socially conscious law practice.

NMIMS Kirit 0P. Mehta School of Law Ranks 7th Best Private Law College In India

July 5, 2021: In the fifth edition of India Today's Best Colleges, SVKM's NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law (KPMSOL, Mumbai), one of India's top law education institutes, was ranked 7th Best Private Law College in India.

Academic excellence, intake quality and governance, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development, and career progression and placement are among the 112 performance characteristics assessed by the survey, which was inaugurated 25 years ago.

“NMIMS has always believed in providing an unrivalled educational experience, and we have endeavoured to extend our quality offerings across domains,” stated Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, SVKM's NMIMS Deemed-to-be-University. “We have come a long way since our humble beginnings 41 years ago, and we are ecstatic that our convictions have been validated. Our accomplishments are largely due to our faculty and staff, who have embraced NMIMS' vision for the future and dedicated themselves to developing future leaders and innovators. I congratulate everyone at NMIMS KPMSOL on these and future successes.", he continued.

The poll also looked at how universities are prepared to deal with the pandemic. To offer accurate and relevant rankings, data from the current year (December 2020 to June 2021) was analysed. KPMSOL was recognised for its innovative legal education (including online), top-notch infrastructure, world-class research resources, and placement assistance.

Absolutely worth the money when it comes to preparing yourself as a person for the industry.

Placements: Over 80% of students got placed from our college last year with the help of the placement cell. The highest package last year ranged around 20 LPA, and the average package is 8.5 LPA. The top recruiting firms are AZB, Khaitan, Tata group, Reliance group, etc. The students have to work hard for their own internships in this course. The top roles that are offered after completing this course depend upon the fields students choose to pursue.

Satisfied with the course structure of the college.

Placements: The placement is still ongoing, and a handful have already been placed. The average package is 7-8 LPA, almost all tier 2 law firms are hiring currently, and other companies are opening in-house. Around 25-30 percent of students got internships from the placement cell of our college.

I am very disappointed. They are not as good as they show. They can definitely destroy your future.

Placements: There are no placements at all in the college. The placement cell has been inactive for 2-3 years. If you want to ruin your future, take admission here for sure. Only 2-3 students out of around 300 were placed. It gets very difficult to grow in the future in this college.

Busy yet, rewarding life.

Placements: Placements are fairly limited with about 15% of students getting placed via campus drives. While there are opportunities, they are limited and competitive, often depending on the student's individual performance. Mostly students rely on internships and off-campus opportunities.

NMIMS School of Law at par with NLUs.

Placements: The college has a very efficient placement cell that works hard to place students. The packages received by students range from 4-20 LPA each year. The college also provides internship opportunities in law firms that practice in a wide range of areas, from pharmaceutical to project finance and corporate law. Students can apply for internships and paralegalships starting in their second year. Many tier 1 law firms, such as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, and Stratage Law, ...

NMIMS University Bangalore accepts entrance exam scores for admission, with NMAT being the primary score for PG (MBA) programs and NPAT, CLAT, or LAT for UG courses. Entrance exams required vary by the specific course you apply for.

No, NMIMS University does not accept IPMAT scores. The university accepts entrance exams such as NMIMS CET, JEE Main, UCEED, NPAT, and others.  Students must register online through the official website. Students need to choose the entrance exam as per the course.

If you have already selected the no changes option, then you should know that NMIS does not allow you to correct it, so log in to your profile and check whether it is editable or not.

Some people say that it is a glitch, but they managed  to toggle it.
