A fairly good college in the heart of Coorg.
Placements: The college offers a 1-year internship to all the students who have passed out from the final year, upon the completion of which, the students receive their course degree. Since it is a medical institute, there are no placements provided by the college itself. A student has to pass the NEET PG/INICET to secure admission into postgraduate courses and further education.
Infrastructure: In our college, there are 3 buildings or blocks, continuing multiple classrooms with a capacity exceeding 150-200 students each, along with practical halls and demonstration rooms for each department. The classrooms are supplied with ACs and fans along with E-boards and projectors to facilitate better learning. There is a central library that has books for the curriculum, along with a separate study hall. There are separate hostels for boys and girls, with each room housing 2-3 students, a separate attached washroom, cots, tables and chairs. The quality of food provided in the mess is fairly average. For sports, the blocks have a dedicated badminton and volleyball court.
Faculty: All the professors are experienced faculty members with years of teaching experience. There are both male and female professors in equal numbers. There is a strict adherence to the prescribed RGUHS curriculum, and the syllabus is usually completed as per the scheduled months. There are 3 internal examinations held every 2-3 months to assess the students, based on which they are given eligibility to sit for the annual university exams. The pass percentage is usually close to 95% of the students.
Other: The patient exposure is fairly high at the District Hospital, and there are PHC centres spread through the district, which provide first-hand experience with the patients. The college organises 2 main events throughout the year, Ganesh Chaturthi, and the annual college fest Utkarsha, which also includes the convocation ceremony of the passing out batch. The college also provides private scholarships strictly based on merit, provided that the student continues to secure the required marks in future exams. There are some cons like poor connectivity to the city market, no dedicated recreational facilities in the town, and problems of fungus in the monsoon.

Hard work always pays off.
Placements: Actually, as I am studying in MBBS, we usually don't have placements. Instead, we have to work in our own hospital in the year of internship. The salary of an intern is 30,000 per month, so we will have a busy schedule as intern doctors. We will face many problems initially during the work. Almost all the students who pass the final year or 4th prof will work as interns.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite good and clean. We have a well-built and spacious library which provides a good environment for studies. In the hostel, they provide us with a study table and chair for each room. Drinking water facilities are poor in the hostel, and there are no proper geysers in the rooms. The canteen's food is good but a little bit costlier compared to in town. No medical facilities are available.
Faculty: Teachers are good, communicative, very friendly, and interactive. The teaching quality is 6 out of 10. Yes, the course is much relevant. Yearly, they conduct 3 internals, which are conducted by the college itself, and the final exam, which is conducted by the RGUHS board. Exams are a bit difficult, level 7/10.
Other: I chose this college because of the surrounding environment and nature. I chose this course as it's my passion and my parents' dream. The best thing about this course is the purpose and value of life. Fests are not as expected; the yearly big fest is conducted in the month of April.

A college with good environment, moderate teaching, and a moderate social life.
Placements: MBBS course offers good placement opportunities. Even if a job is not available, we can build our careers. Our college provides excellent teaching and skill development, which helps us secure good jobs. College also offers PG courses. As junior doctors, we can earn a good salary.
Infrastructure: Our college infrastructure is good, with the hostel located within the college campus. However, hospital is situated in the city center, which is 5 km away from the college. Hostel is well-maintained, with two members per room, and each room has a separate bathroom. Food in the hostel mess is also good.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful with doubts, and their explanations are clear, and supported by good PowerPoint presentations. Professors are very knowledgeable and student-friendly. Curriculum is competency-based, and exams are held annually, with three internal assessments spaced three months apart. Minimum passing percentage is 50%.
Other: MBBS course is professional and provides satisfaction through serving people who are ill. Connectivity between seniors and juniors is good, creating a healthy environment for skill development. Events are enjoyable, with an annual college event and other festival celebrations. Scholarships are available.

Very good college comparatively for people searching for a good government college.
Placements: There's no placement in MBBS after graduation, finishing your internship. You have to write NEET PG to continue with MD or explore many other options available according to people's interests. During your internship, you'll get around 30,000, and during MD, around 50,000, which will increase over time. "Doctor" itself is the top role!
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is very nice, with spacious classrooms and technical facilities like PPTs. The labs are well equipped comparatively. The library has a good amount of books to refer to. Overall, I feel the facilities are good compared to others.
Faculty: The faculties are really good here, especially Anatomy for the 1st year, as I've only completed the 1st year. Their quality is good, along with their immense knowledge. The curriculum is relevant and well followed here. The exams are at the level of RGUGHS's final exam, with three internals conducted before the final. The pass percentage is around 50.
Other: I chose this course because I was more interested in biology. Without doctors, there's nothing, in my belief; it's the foundation and gives me immense satisfaction and happiness compared to other jobs. I wish people could respect doctors more and give them the salaries they deserve for their never-ending hard work. The curricular and extracurricular activities are organized very well here, mainly Ganesha Chaturthi, Kannada Rajyotsava, and the college fest. It's a very good environment for students to study. There's a scholarship called SSP for students with an income below 2 LPA.

Absolutely satisfied with college, faculty, infrastructure, facilities, etc.
Placements: The college does not provide placements. It only gives us internship opportunities. They give us internships in their own government hospital in Madikeri of Kodagu district. 100% of students got internships from this course in the government hospital of Madikeri.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure with beautiful weather. The faculty is well-qualified and experienced. In the college, we have a large library with lots of books. The quality of chief facilities in the hostel is the best, with good quality food available, and there is one canteen.
Faculty: The teachers of the college are very helpful; they teach us very easily and understandably. The teaching quality of the faculty is good. The semester exams are moderate, with enough time to prepare for the exam. The first percentage is almost 100. The teachers are helpful and knowledgeable.
Other: I chose this course to serve the people and to treat them well. The college has mainly two events: one is Karnataka Rajyotsava and the other one is Graduation Day.

Review of Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Kodagu.
Placements: We have just had a batch of passed out graduates, that is the batch of 2016, who have been pursuing their own path. A few of them have been posted to reputed places, whereas a few have opted to go for further studies. We don't have companies recruiting us like in other colleges, as it is a government medical college and things don't work the same way as in other courses. Internships are offered to everyone on a compulsory basis.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very modest, with only basic requirements fulfilled, sometimes not even that. Classrooms are filled with fungus-covered walls, and the washrooms have no water most of the time. There is no guarantee of electricity or water in this place. We do have Wi-Fi, but only limited to the digital library and the ground floor of the hostel. Labs are well-equipped and lit. The library is good, with a vast collection of books and flexible reading hours. The hostel rooms are fine. There are problems with water, electricity, and food. Sports and games are not encouraged, and there are no designated areas.
Faculty: The teaching quality is quite good compared to other government colleges, and teachers are pretty knowledgeable, with one or two exceptions. They are all well-qualified. The curriculum is also very good, with more practical application and approach. Semester exams are quite difficult as compared to university exams.
