National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad Courses & Fees 2025
There are a total of 16 courses offered at by the institute. These courses are offered across fields of Animation, etc. They are available at the UG and PG levels. No you can not join NID Ahmedabad directly since admissions are based on NID DAT scores only. NID DAT is two-step exam consisting:
Prelims: Objective-type CBT focusing on design aptitude, general knowledge, and observation skills.
Mains: Studio tests + PI to evaluate design thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
The overall cost of NID Ahmedabad is INR 11.4 lakh. The MDes fees might include mutiple other fee components that must be paid during admission. The overall criteria for MDes in NID Ahmedabad is four year duration Bachelor degree in any specialisations from any recognised university or institution. NID Ahmedabad offers MDes programme at the postgraduate level that lasts for two and a half years. Admission 2024 is based on NID entrance exams. The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

The total tuition fee for BDes at NID Ahmedabad is INR 16.84 lakh. BDes is a four-year course divided into eight semesters and the fee for each semester is INR 1.83 lakh. While admission there are components that will be added to the total tuition fee as well, such as the student activity fund and film club, so the final fee including these components and the total tuition fee might change a little.

Only Indian citizens born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible for admission under the General Category or the General EWS Category. Applicants born on or after 1 July 2000 in the Reserved Category (Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layers (OBCNCL), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) may apply.For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates may apply for the academic year 2023-24 who have passed or will appear for the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2022–23 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from a recognised educational board like CBSE, IB, ICSE, or equivalent.

- The applicant must be above the 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class 12 or equivalent.

- The applicant must not be availing the benefit of any other scholarship schemes including State-run scholarship schemes/ fee waivers & reimbursement schemes.
- The gross parental/family income of the applicant should not exceed ?4,50,000 per annum.
- For renewal of scholarship in each year of study, besides getting at least 50% marks in the Annual Examination, maintenance of adequate attendance of at least 75%, will also be the criteria.

If there were any clashes of the interview dates with the college/ university exam, then candidates could inform the NID before February 23, 2026. Candidates needed to attach a copy of the timetable attested by the principal and a letter from the principal confirming that the examination dates clash
