National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT)  is an autonomous body of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India. It was made to provide knowledge and skill development in the field on Information, Electronics and Communications Technology among students. Both Nielit Patna and Nielit Shillong provides quality educational courses to its students at very affordable cost. Nielit Patna promotes more than 10 courses in IT and software stream at affordable fees and give good placement. However, Nielit Shillong offers long-term, short-term certificate, and other courses to students across the Hardware, Networking & Maintenance, and various other streams. However, the fees of both NIELIT centres are very much the same. For example, The CCC course at Nielit Shillong cost around Rs. 5,295 and the same course at Nielit Patna cost around Rs. 4,555.

NIELIT Shillong offers both long term and short term courses. The fees of various short term courses like BCC, CCC, ECC etc. cost around INR.4k - 8k. However, different long terms courses like O' Level in IT (Software), 'O' Level in CHM etc. cost around INR.15k - 30K.

NIELIT entrance exam Scores are accepted by this college. And the minimum eligibility criteria to get a opportunity to study here is minimum 50% marks in entrance examination and pass 12th in any recognised board of education. NIELIT Shillong admission to various courses is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. For short-term courses, the admissions are based on a candidate's academic merit. Admission to long-term courses is conducted through NIELIT entrance exam. Candidates can be eligible to pursue ECC at Nielit Shillong if he/she scores minimum 50% in the Nielit entrance exam and has passed 12th with minimum 50% - 60% from any recognised board of education.
