Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat is recognised by the UGC. It is a part of the thirty NITs that has been recognised by the Indian Government due to their national importance. The NIT Surat also gives good placement offers to the students.

The average package that the SVNIT BTech students secured in 2025 is INR 10.45 LPA. And the total tuition fee for BTech at SVNIT is INR 5 lakh. Considering the total tuition fee and the package secured this seems like a good return on investment. For job placements, companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Mastercard, Capgemini, JP Morgan, Airtel, L&T, and many more come to the campus.

NIT Surat has 10 hostels for accommodating over 5000 students. Out of these 10 hostels,  7 are allocated for boys and 2 are dedicated to girls. 1 hostel is especially for married scholars. All the hostels are managed by chief wardens/wardens, supervisors, and hostel boys. SVNIT Surat hostels have all the basic facilities, including a computer table/study table, chair, cot, almirah, etc. Each wing of the hostel has several verandahs and balconies. All the hostels have a dining hall and several water coolers, a common room, a reading room, etc. The hostel has 24/7 wifi connectivity. For the safety and security of the students, the hostels are under the surveillance of CCTV cameras that are operational 24/7.

SVNIT provides various facilities such as well-equipped labs, library, classroom, complex which are recently constructed and are of a high standard, canteens, hostels, post office in front of the main GATE of SVNIT, the institute has a developed an effective security system for students safety. SVNIT also has a dispensary inside the campus for both students and staff of the college. The college has a well-equipped canteen located behind the Central Library. NIT Surat has one bank and two ATMs at the campus.

National Institute of Technology is well reputed for MSc in Physics. Strong academic programmes and faculty from various well experience backgrounds make the college popular among studnts. It is a full-time two-year course, intended to cover most of the aspects in Physics ranging from basic concepts to research level. Furthermore, students are provided a space with modern equipment and setup that is necessary for carrying out experiments and research work.

SVNIT Surat has well-educated faculty. Most of the faculty are PhD and higher degree holders. The institute also arranges guest lectures and workshops, seminars, and various trainings for students. At present, there are more than 100 faculty members and most of them are doctorates.

There are 12 departments at SVNIT Surat namely, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics and Humanities, Mechanical Engineering and Physics. The department of Computer Science also has research areas such as Data Science, Information Extraction, Text Embedding, Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Deep Learning, Imbalance Data Mining, Machine Learning and Recommendation Systems.
