B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2028
3.6
3Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
I am quite satisfied, except for the sports facilities.
Placements: In my course (Civil), placements are quite decent. It is around 50 to 60 percent in recent years. The highest placement is 16 LPA, and the lowest is 3.5 LPA, while the average salary is 6.8 LPA. Overall, placements are good. Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Adani Group, and Reliance Industries are among the top recruiters, but they generally donโ€™t offer more than 8-9 LPA. Top roles include site engineer, executive engineer, and junior project manager.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of our college is above average. The CSE, Electrical, and Chemical departments have very good infrastructure, while the Mechanical department buildings and classrooms are the worst. The Civil Engineering department has good infrastructure. Wi-Fi is not available in most departments. Classes have a separate building. There are two more buildings, Civil A wing and Civil B wing. Separate drawing halls and labs are available. Hostels have good room space and facilities. Mess food varies, but overall, it is decent.
Faculty: Civil Engineering faculty members are highly qualified and the best in their field. They have a good reputation outside the college as well. They provide projects and on-site internships for field research and are very helpful if approached. Exams are easy, and students can score a decent CGPA by studying for around one week before exams. Some exams are hard. Around 90 percent of students pass without any backlog or supplementary.
Other: I chose Civil because it has good opportunities in both the government and private sectors. Civil engineering allows a lot of time for extracurricular activities and sports. The biggest improvement needed is in sports facilities and equipment quality, as there is no separate ground for each sport. There is no shortage of events. Almost every week, there are games, dancing, or singing events. Along with the freshers' party (Kashish) and annual fest (Sparsh), there is also a technical fest (Mind Blend).

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2026

Satisfying placement with good infrastructure.
Placements: I am a student of Electronics and Communication Engineering department. In our batch, till now around 50-60 percent students got placed. The highest package is around 40 LPA, the lowest package is 5 LPA, and the average is around 10 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Apple, Meesho, Oracle, ZS Associates, and around 20-30 percent, students got internship. Roles offered are software side only like frontend developer, backend engineer, AI/ML engineer.
Infrastructure: All general facilities are available in our campus such as Wi-Fi, library, labs, and all are well maintained and perform satisfactorily to help a student grow in their field. Talking about hostel infrastructure, it lags in some facilities. There is no common room for study and gaming instruments depend on hostel, in some hostels there is a playing area and in some hostels there is none. The mess is well maintained, but you can't expect home-like food.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and qualified and they are very knowledgeable in their field. Teaching quality depends on teacher; some teachers are just trying to complete their hours and some try hard to explain the concepts to students. The course syllabus is very relevant to industry standards. Semester exams are difficult, but if you solve past year papers and class notes, then you will pass the exam with good CGPA.

Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry - Batch of 2030
4.4
3Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
A lot of events, fests, and seminars are conducted on different topics in BHU, students can enroll.
Placements: The overall placement of college is good, M.Sc. courses, placement is 50% and the average is about 7.5 to 8.5LPA, and while B.Tech courses offer more placement records, but the core branches and the M.Sc. courses grab almost the same.
Infrastructure: All the departments are excellent, and many departments are undergoing major renovation. LAN is provided in all hostels and a library, overall, the infrastructure is good, and hostels are clean, but in some wings, there are issues in the bathroom areas. There are also times when the LAN does not work for 2 to 3 days, and there is also a connectivity problem in the rooms on the first floor of Gajjar Bhavan.
Faculty: The professors are well qualified here, and they know enough to teach each one of you. The core branches of the curriculum are a little tougher than the other branches. Curriculum is a little old, I personally feel, but with the internet and self learning, you can do a lot better here.
Other: I chose integrated M.Sc. because it has decent placement statistics and overall good exposure for research. You can go globally for higher studies, like Ph.D., fully funded, because of the reputation of the NITs, and also because of your research experience.

Dissatisfied with placements, infrastructure, and the education course.
Placements: Around 75% students are placed this year in my course. The highest package is 36.42 LPA, the lowest is 3.30 LPA, and the average is 10.25 LPA. Top Recruiting companies for my course are Siemens, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Mercedes-Benz, and Bharat Petroleum, alongside prominent IT and consulting firms such as Amazon, Qualcomm, Intel, Deloitte, TCS, and Infosys. Around 25% students got internships in my course in companies like Reliance, L&T, etc. Top roles offered in my course are core positions in Power Systems, Power Electronics, and Control Systems, to non-core roles in AI/ML, Data Science, and Software Development.
Infrastructure: The hostel and course departments have no Wi-Fi. The quality of food in Mess is below average, and in some hostels it's the worst. Canteen food is roughly average. Medical facilities are not very good. Many sports and games faculty members are also lacking, like a football ground, a proper gym for everyone, badminton, etc.
Faculty: Teaching quality is not as expected as from a NIT here. The course is more focused on theoretical knowledge instead of practical knowledge. The course is not proper according to the faculty. Difficult levels for exams are average. Overall, the pass percentage is good.
Other: I thought Electrical Engineering would be a great choice for my career, and it also matched my interests. The syllabus must be more focused on practical rather than only theoretical knowledge. Events and fests are very poor due to huge corruption. Extra-curricular activities are also lacking. The infrastructure is very poor.

Review of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology.ย
Placements: The placement rate is around 75%. It includes both on-campus and off-campus opportunities. The highest package currently is 12 LPA. But this year, a student secured a 75 LPA package through an off-campus placement at Google. Almost everyone gets an internship by the third year, provided theyโ€™ve stayed consistent and havenโ€™t made major mistakes. A wide variety of roles are offered, and it's up to each student to decide which role suits them best or is more valuable. Everyone has their own path.
Infrastructure: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat has a decent campus. Most of the area is covered in greenery. A significant portion of the campus is also occupied by unused or abandoned buildings, beyond the currently usable infrastructure. The hostel conditions are better than those in some NITs but worse than others. Overall, not always up to good living standards. However, thatโ€™s part of the charm of college life. The internet connectivity is quite poor, but the labs and classrooms are decent. The library, on the other hand, is excellent.
Faculty: Teachers in my course are qualified and knowledgeable. But I do not think most of them know how to teach effectively. I believe this is not just an issue at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat, but a common problem in many government colleges. That said, the teachers are generally helpful. The curriculum is relevant but outdated and quite basic, especially for core subjects, so if you are aiming for placements, you will need to put in extra effort beyond the syllabus. Students generally do not score very high grades in my course, but most of us do manage to pass.
Other: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat is a national-level college with the NIT and 'Institute of National Importance' tag. However, the teaching style and events are quite basic compared to those in IITs.

It has a really good infrastructure.
Placements: Almost all students got placement offers in our course. The extremely high salary package offered in our course is 18 LPA. The average package offered in our course is 8 LPA. 70-80% of students got internships in our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our course are extremely good. Wi-Fi facility is available in the college. The library has a huge collection of good-quality textbooks. Sports facilities are good. The quality of the hostel is also good.
Faculty: Professors of our course are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective fields. The teaching quality of our faculty members is extremely good. The course curriculum is relevant. Students become ready for industry jobs. Semester examinations are quite tough.
